Cessna 337/210/182/172 Retracts

Anyone know of a set of retracts that would correctly model the operation of the retracts in Cessna's single engine aircraft? I'd love to modify a 182 into a 182RG or one of the Skymaster kits into a retractable configuration to accurately model an O-2. The nose gear is no problem, but the mains retract down and then back into the fuselage and I've yet to come across any retracts that do this in a usable way.

There's a new frontier for Robart!

A friend of mine just finished a Hoesttler Skymaster. He thought he wanted retracts also, until he got a price from a custom builder.

There was an article in one of the major mags (MA, MAN, RCM) a while back written by a guy who built a pair of these for his Cessna. It was sort of a retract construction article. He provided drawings, etc. for building your own. Used music wire and a pulling mechanism with a servo for actuation.

Sorry I can't provide more specific details; that's all I remember.

I've even thought of using retracts similar to F-104 retracts that sit at an angle and retract straight back. The actual retraction sequence is not scale, but the geometry when extended is similar and the gear ends up in a similar place when retracted. The main this is to find a retract mechanism that can handle the side load this imposes. Robart has a set for the Avonds F-104 that would almost work except the gear is too narrow.
