Making mud?
So what's a good way of simulating mud, for example, on wheel rims and tires? Good old sticky, lumpy, cloddy, hard to clean off mud!!!

RE: Making mud?
How bout some "Mud" paint? The model railroades use it all the time. Floquil is one brand and probably Scale Coat another. I'm sure Testers has one of their own too..

RE: Making mud?
Bob, it this just "mud colored" or does it actually have some type of "caking" consistency? Also does anyone have any photos of "mud" on their scale model. Or for that matter photos showing real mud on the real thing?

RE: Making mud?
If wieght is not an issue, I use a light wieght wall patch mixed with a bit of fine sand (optional) and colored for your type of soil when wet.
The rest I know can run with. I've seen your pics. Steve |
RE: Making mud?
Try "Durams water putty"......hard as rock......fuel proof.....mixes with any water soluable paint, stain or dye....easy to mix to any consistency

RE: Making mud?
Bob, Steve, Tom, thanks all for the useful suggestions! Now I just need to figure out how to creatively apply the mud. Guess I need to look at some old photos.
