Help Finding Plane PLEASE!!

I am desperately seeking a 1/8th scale aircraft to use in a diorama with scale trains. I have looked and not been able to find anything. I don't care whether it’s a kit or arf, just so long as it has a reasonably scale appearance. I would like something older like a Cub or Cessna 195, I thought about something like a DC 3 also. I sure hope someone here can help, I sure don't want to scratch build it. Thanks. Rob

You can get a 1/8th scale deHavilland Beaver kit (72") from Great Hobbies in Canada. Price is $110 CDN and it builds into a nice aircraft.

Cheers!

Squadron is a great plastic model outfit, but they don't make or distribute ANYTHING in 1/8 scale,

This guy must be doing the large garden railroad type stuff.

World Models makes an ARF 1/8 cub..not all that scale, but it might suffice:

I think Global (Hobby People) makes a 48" Cub...that is about 4" smaller than 1/8 scale, but might be close enough for you.

I've a Fokker triplane wich is HIGHLY detailed in zamac and plywood. Really it's a jewell and it's about 15-20% built: engine spandau guns, propeller, wheels, one wing and some accesories... If you have interest PM me.
Bye!

I forgot to tell you: Includes fully illustrated building manual

Thanks for the response, I think I'm going to get plans and a kit for Nick Zirolis DC 3, I may go ahead and spring for the B25 kit as well. I also am looking into the Beaver. I must be nuts, this seems like a lot of trouble and money to try and win a photography contest, but they'll look hanging in my hangar.

Are you sure on the scale? I am also into Model Railroading and have never heard of 1/8th scale, unless we're talking live steam-- ride on sized models. O scale is 1/4th inch to the foot, H.O. is 1/87th scale. H.O. can be considered 1/8th inch to the foot.

There was a fellow in Redlands Calif who was making such 1/8 scale A/C out of fiberglass for movie studios like Universal. He died a couple years ago, and know I have seen his stuff on the infamous internet auction service. It was being handled by someone in Orange County Calif. area.

He had lottsa em, for he did the work on HotShots, Air Wolf, Tough Guys, etc.

I've got a new Giant B-17, It's 1/9 scale, just a bit smaller than 1/8, but it's pretty big at 138" span. PM if interested.

Rob,

Those trains are amazing! That's the first time that I've heard of railroad stuff at that scale. I don't even want to think of how much money you can put into those things! Here's a couple of photos of my 1/8th scale Beaver.

Cheers!
