Need help with ID of this Cub

1 Attachment(s)
I have had a couple of 1/4 scale cubs over the years and I believe they were both Sig's. This one is not a Sig (I think), I recently aquired this one and I want to rebuild it. I removed the glass (bad shape) and the covering. Fixed the broken pieces and I want to replace the glass. If I knew the manufacture I could possibly find a cowl and some new glass. The windows are molded with edges to precisely fit in the opening and a glued in place. The windsheild I think I can duplicate with a flat piece. I also need a cowling. I snapped some pics so you guys that have been building awhile could help me ID the aircraft manufacture. Wings are 100" span and plug in over the spars and are secured from the inside with nylon screws. Then a cover over the center section with an overhead window. Any help with this would be great. I am also looking for the plans as well.

For what it's worth, that looks like a plan-build or own design scratch-build....[:'(]

Hope you can get it sorted

cheers

I'd say it's the Hanger 9 ARF 100" Cub. Just compared your photos with the one in my shop and it looks identical around the cabin area. Seems to be some decals missing, though. Mine is one of the original fabric covered versions but later they were film covered. If it is a H9 you can get the cowl and windshield from Horizon Hobbies.

I was thinking the same thing. The fuselage structure, formers and stringers all look thte same. Window layout is clearly similaar. The only thing different is the Hangar 9 has a wing tube instead of these spar plates. I have searched Horizons website for thier older versions to no avail. I forgot to mention it was originally set up for 1/4 scale servos. That dates it a little. Does the one in your shop have the wing tube or the plates as mine?

Thanks to all for the help.
Larry

I'm thinking World Models...they use a two blade aluminum wing joiners.... The thick window frames are a trademark of theirs as well......

Mine has the flat wing spar joiners exactly like yours. I got it second hand and was told it was a Hanger 9. I'm not familiar with the World Models Cub but I do know that when H9 first came out with the 100" ARF Cub, it was fabric covered as mine is. (And as a Cub should be!)

That's the H9 1:4 scale cub (I have one that I got second hand also). But the gear is different. Looks like a Robart unit on it. The stock gear is the single piece aluminum variety.

You could easily check to see if it is hanger 9 by the NC numbers. I belive all of Hanger 9's J3 Cubs use NC88073 the registratin of Pat Hartness' aircraft.
