Cub lightning bolt

Anyone know of a source for an accurate lightning bolt for the side of a cub.........the more I look, the more variations I find, some of them hideous...... Even on full scale restored cubs!!

Hey Nony I have the book on cubs and they show and state that the lightning bolt can vary a lot from plane to plane and showed some samples, you're right, they're down right ugly on some of the planes. If you get it close then you will be all right I guess!

they just free handed it

I recall reading somewhere that there was no template or standard spec for the lightning bolt at the cub factory. When they finished the yellow some guys just got some black paint and went to town. It varies all over the map. In my book, that's good news for wannabe scale modelers.

On my website I have a template for size and placement of the bolt and the N numbers. This comes from a book on piper cubs.
