RE: Dauntless Modernized
Rich, I have been focusing on my Midwest 47' Lifeboat. Had hoped to have it ready for the Wooden Boats on Parade in Golden Gate Park tomorrow but could not make it due to paint bubbling issues. As soon as I put up my second shed and get more working room I will once again be able to work on 2 models at the same time.

RE: Dauntless Modernized
Modernizing the Dauntless...
Too bad the jets dinna work... but they might have worked on the 52" American Enterprise. Even has a step'd transom designed for drives, as the original had jet-drive.
I've been tempted to make a 'When the mood strikes me...' mod, where I can drop a flying bridge (and I'm talking tube-frame like on deep-sea sport-fishers) onto the kit.
Had the idea from another R/C kit, and the second story in the book 'Ghost' by John Ringo (first book in his 'Kildar' series) brought it all back...
I'm still looking to get a built Dauntless, though I'll get a kit if I have to.
Mmmmm, you guys in NY got it nice with that gorgeous boat pond.
You know what would rock in these big power-planing hulls? A mini gas-electric generator. Think, it could take the weight with ease, run the alternator at its most efficient setting (gas, 2-stroke or straight diesel) and have all the forward/neutral/reverse control of an electric!
If only we could get a small R/C gas-engine maker to do it, it could be used all over... larger RC trucks, and the 1/6 scale paintball tanks... and these boats...

Hi Larry,
I agree, that hot tub does look cool. One's imagination can go wild on the many ways to get it to work.
Are you going to make it functional?
-Rich.
