RE: BUTCH'S BUILD LOG FOR DUMAS DEEP V60
The truck took me a year to build, and the canoe took me 4 months to build, 20 hours per week.
I learned by working for my wife's father, and he owned a statue store. Stuff like the cookie monster, miss piggy,
and other banks. I made molds, cast the statue with plaster, and sprayed painted them.

RE: BUTCH'S BUILD LOG FOR DUMAS DEEP V60
Thanks Guy's
I put a lot of passion into what ever I build, for it is better to do it right the first time. This why my boat is taking up to 4 years, and still not done. I want everything to fit exact, so if for some reason I have to replace something, it will be done very easy to do. My thought process looks at something, in 3-D in my mind to see if it was the right choice. Just like my motor mounts, they are designed to allow any 25cc, or 30cc engine to fit without making new ones, or adjusting the old one's. I was told by the Navy that I hold a special gift to detail, and can repair just about anything, even if I never worked a item before.
Just like Rich, he has a eye for detail. If it does seem right, he will re-do it until it is right, and this the same for me.
All a person can do is have the passion and the will to do something, even if someone else disagrees It will be right if the builder believes it so.
Will be posting more pictures later, I need a healing nap.

RE: BUTCH'S BUILD LOG FOR DUMAS DEEP V60
Captains
I finally decided how I plan to attach my upper cabins, to the lower cabin for engine access. The upper cabin will have a metal strip on the bottom of her, and the lower cabin will have a magnet setup. It will be just like a fridge door magnet inside of soft rubber. So besides holding the cabins, it will seal as well.
Will send photos when I get to that set in the phase of building.
Rich, I got my hands on another re-generating part, just like the first one.
Included, is a picture of my Captains Mate-my grandson sweeping up scrap wood, I am so proud of the little stinker. But on a high note. He is two years old, and he is the size of a four year old-big boy!

I am truly sorry for not posting yet as promised, I bought my daughter a car a few weeks ago. And on her first day of her maiden voyage after getting out of work, she got stuck. In reality, she tried to park in a spot at 20 miles per hour. She has destroyed the transmission, and it now sits at royal trans for a complete rebuild. I told her to go back to take a refresher course at driving school. Otherwise she is not going to get the car again. I been upset, for the car, plates, and insurance is in my name. Besides she has not made the first payment, and I told her she must pay the trans shop.
I plan to get back on the boat friday, and will be able to send updates and pictures.

Hi Butch,
No need for apologies, this is just a hobby, the real world stuff comes first..
I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's mishap. When the car is fixed take her out to a big empty parking lot for some practice... This way you both get to spend some time together and she gets to learn the right way.. I'm sure you would be agreat teacher and it will be something she will always remember. The little things in lifecan bethe most meaningful.

RE: BUTCH'S BUILD LOG FOR DUMAS DEEP V60
I just discovered a excellent wood glue, stronger than wood, 100% water proof, and just as strong as epoxy. But you do not have to mix it, and easy soap and water clean up. It comes in a 16oz. bottle, and costs $6.78 and it is made by Elmers. It is call wood glue max, interior and exterior. And it can be submerged under water for log periods of time, its either stainable or paintable.
I thought I would pass this on to you captains, for this makes a lot of certain assembly possible.
I told my two year old grandson, that he and I will be finishing the boat together, and running her this summer. And he cried, while playing basketball, and said grandpa trusts me, and loves me.

Hi Butch,
Thank's for the glue tip! I have used Elmers carpenters glue with good results. Elmers is so easy to use and like you said, easy to clean up too.
That was so cute what your grandson said, kids are so adorable at that age. The things they say aand do are so amazing!
I've been having so much fun with my 9 month old boy. The smallest things they do are the greatest wonders.

RE: BUTCH'S BUILD LOG FOR DUMAS DEEP V60
[sizRich & Lee;
I have finally decided to work on the boat again, and hopefully will be towards the finish line soon.
Then once the upper removable decks, and the hull is done. Will work on some of the features I have in mind.
I put the work table in the basement, so I am out of the way, of the family.
It took a lot of pencil draftings to make, before I could go onto the next section of the hull. I made some changes to the wiring I
already did, with the switch panel.
Will keep posting, and should have some pictures of my progress already.

Rich & Lee;
I just got my 24 cc. weed wacker engine back from a good friend of mine. He works for a local machine shop, and they did a heck of a job.
They put in a chromoly piston sleeve in the head, then polished the exhaust, and intake ports. So it would not throw off the timing, they reamed
out the head to 37cc, and it brought still close to same tolerances and cc.
They pulled the crank, and applied a ever coating to the surface, which should not wear out for some time.
Then I polished the inside of the carb, and enlarged the port to give a finer mist for the intake stroke, without giving to much fuel to flood engine.
To allow for a more wider range of spark to the plug, easier starting, and more HP. I installed a secondary electronic coil-less ignition, which is activated,
when WOT is acheived by the carb throttle.
WOT=Wide Open Throttle

RE: BUTCH'S BUILD LOG FOR DUMAS DEEP V60
sounds like the boat will scream with that set up in it. I hope to get my boat started this year. My friends son has wood shop this year again and his first project is cutting out all three of our boats so that we can get started. He can get the materials cheap thru school. He is going to cut mine out on trade for a motor I have and the one for his dad's boat as well. He has a few things going for him this year and I hope he has fun.
Love to see some photos of the boat soon.

Hi Butch,
That sounds awesome! You now have a "worked" engine for your boat! COOL!
How is your boat doing? Is it ready to be detailed soon?

Dear Captains;
Here is the pictures of the boats, my two trucks. A 94 Ranger, and a 95 F-150, plus my property, and my loved grandsons.
