Just a few pics of my tug before I glue frame to strong back

It is looking really good so far. Kind of hard to tell from the pictures because they stay the same same size, no magnification like they do at other sites like here, http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_46...m.htm#10388656 post #1536.
Don't know if it is your camera settings, ie, .3m vs 3m or something to do with rcuniverse. Hope future pictures will be, you know, bigger when clicked on. Otherwise, keep up the good work. Bob |

I down loaded pics from my I phone I couldnt find a mem card for my camera the next pics i take will be with my camera As for the tug build all the frames and keel are glued together just waiting to clear some space in my DOGHOUSE for the strong back this tug is MASSIVE the ohter day my wife asked me if it was a punt for my fishing boat LOL needless to say she will be my lover for the next few months Alex ORIGINAL: rblubaugh It is looking really good so far. I wondered how you were getting away with building the boat in the living room? Just a stop gap to see how it would look on the strong back.
I have the 36" kit. One day I'll get to build it. In the mean time I learn a lot watching you gentlemen build the larger variety. Bob |

Bob I dont think Im going to model tug after the shelly foss tug I was looking at something a bit more modern and a bigger scale close to 1 inch to 1 foot so Im looking at modern tug designs in the 76 foot range to model hull after the internet is wonderful but it takes time to find what youre looking do you know of any good tugboat links it would be of great help Alex ORIGINAL: rblubaugh I wondered how you were getting away with building the boat in the living room? A update on my Tug build
Im getting ready to glue bottom and side panels onto frame but before I do that I need to get some balsa for the bow block so i can shape it and fair it into hull As for the power I sent fortwo 24 volt motors from England these motors are monsters Im planning to use steerable korts for the 4.5 inch props I believe setting these up will be the hardest part of the build Ill up;oad some pics soon Alex |

Still using the I phone I see (that's almost confusing to read :)), but the picture of the Donzi is really nice and LARGE besides being a beautiful boat. Yours?
Construction looks to be coming along find on your Tug. Didn't see any balsa blocks for the bow yet. I'm looking forward to the Korts. Bob |

I guess you can readily tell I'm an "in-lander" since I didn't recognize your boat as a Blackwatch 30 Sports Fisherman (it looked like a Donzi to me) :). I'll bet you've had some great fishing trips on her. With the 24V motors you're getting from England and the Korts, you will quite possibly be able to tow her! It would be interesting to try on a calm day. Are you using a 3:1 reduction on the motors or straight drive? BTW, the Sport Fisherman fills my 22" monitor, which makes it nice to see the details. :D Bob |

Yeah Ive had some great fishing trips on China Doll Ill have to up load some pics of some of the fish Ive caught for my 35mm Bob the 24 volt moters are monsters believe me they reHi torque Lo rpm 1/4 inch shaft @ 4600 5.5 inches long and with a dia of 2.75 tatking to Brain at Mobile Marine medels he said motors are powerful enough they dont need any reduction less problems to deal with so Ill will be setting her up with straight drive Alex ORIGINAL: rblubaugh Alex, I guess you can readily tell I'm an "in-lander" since I didn't recognize your boat as a Blackwatch 30 Sports Fisherman (it looked like a Donzi to me) :). I am impressed! [X(] The first on is HUGE. I've done a little salt water fishing, once from a pay boat, didn't catch anything larger than my hand, and a lot of pier fishing where I've caught (legal) Snapper and Spanish Mackeral using 'Greenies'. When I saw that first fish of yours I thought it was a sea bass but (I confess) I went looking and it appears more like a Black Grouper. The second one at first looked like a Mackeral, but I didn't think they got that big, so I looked again and the closet I come is a Wahoo. Others were close but the stripes make it look most like the Wahoo. Those two fish had to keep you in fish steaks for a good while. How'd I do on identification? Wow, those are monster motors! You hadn't said they were high torque in the past although i probably should have figured that one out for myself. I can't imagine that size a motor, it would be larger than most of the boats I'm working on, even the Dauntless. It's going to be exciting watching you put this Shelly together. Bob |

Pretty good on the Fish ID the first one is a black grouper 85 pounds and second one is a wahoo 110 pounds Im sure the black grouper is in the sea bass family say with the wahoo in the mackeral family

The SS looks nice, if I didn't know better I'd think they were the real thing; and the stem section appears to be bent perfectly, nice and smooth. Can't wait to see them all installed on the model. Have the motors arrived yet? Bob |

Just a quick update on the Shelly Foss build I have finished the hull and im now fairing the hull really boring work not something that needs to be done if you want a good looking hull Im still waiting for the props and the nozzles from Propshop Ill upload some pics later in the week
As the fishing season is beginning to start are Ill be taking some time off of the build to put more effort into my fishing but Ill post updates from time to time Alex |

I've been patiently waiting for an update and knew fishing season was fast approaching. I notice I didn't comment on your motor; it is HUGE. Five inches of pure power, and there's <u>two</u> of them coupled to korts! Looking forward to seeing some pics of your progress. BTW, have you got a new memory card? :eek: Have a great time out fishing. I don't know if you are part of any tournaments or just out for the pure enjoyment of the sport but either way I hope you have some great fishing. Have to say I wish I were going out with you one time but with my sea fishing record I may be bad luck. Of course, I don't believe in luck. :D Bob |
