1/6 - 1/8 scale PT boat
I am thinking of building a 1/6 or 1/8 scale PT Boat (10-14ft) I have a 33" dumas kit and a scratch built 1/20 scale pt boat. Anyone have any experience building a boat of this size? i have already re scaled my plans and drawrings from 1/20th to 1/8. Looking for an idea for a clutch/gear box and engines (2 gas) that would fit nice in this boat.thinking ofwater cooled with functional scale exhaust as on my 1/20th scale but dont know of any motors that would be big enough for a boat this size.
Thanks, Mike |

Might as well do what Robert Voorhee did with his large scale PT boat... 15 feet,... Ride in it.
I believe the smaller 8 foot model runs on three trolling motors. http://www.rktman.com/rlh/gallery/robert/robert.html http://www.rktman.com/rlh/gallery/robert/Image1.jpg http://www.rktman.com/rlh/gallery/robert/Image23.jpg . [8D][8D][8D] |

Sounds like a cool project.
Looked at [link=http://www.surpluscenter.com/engines.asp?catname=engines]Surpluscenter[/link] for an engine lately? To water cool you need to have new tops made = $$$. I'm thinking a couple of diesels could possibly be aircooled with forced air - just throwing it out there... I like the idea of scale mufflers. Check this link to size a [link=http://www.building-model-boats.com/model-boat-motor.html]model boat motor[/link]. |
