Trojan Cruiser Yacht RC Electric Scratch Built

6 Attachment(s)
Completely from pictures and no plans, Mr. Tony Lombardo from Titusville, Florida scratch built this wonderful looking model from pictures at the Marina and it is approximately 24th scale made of wood.

Another good friend, Mark S., came and acquired it and installed a large (effective) Brushed Can Motor with internal Cooling fan unit and came out of an Electric Saw Tool during Mark's search at Yard Sales.

Some pictures of the Model in action!

<font size="3">Carlos,

Very nice looking Trojan, runs really nicely, gets up on step, just nice to watch.  What are the particulars on this craft?  Length, beam and anything else you haven't already told us?

Bob,

Next time I meet up with Mark, the new owner of this fine RC Electric Yacht Model, I will take measurements and ask Mark what Electric Saw Tool he took out that Motor from.

I am glad you enjoyed the pictures and Video.

FYI......Power System Selection:

Per Mark's E-Mail:

Black and Decker 14-18 volt circular saw or drill. Other brands will work too.

Of course, Mark selected a 14 Volt Motor from a Black & Decker Circular Saw Tool.

I am hoping that this 18 Volt that I just bought last night would allow for 3-Cell Lithium Poly Operation and provide good scale speed and upper speed when needed to Wow the spectators! :D

We shall see.....;)

<font size="3">Rsat,

How have you been doing since, I think, March when you finished clear coating?  Get the running gear in and or color coat on yet?

Hi Bob,
The color is all on and I am finishing the final buffing.
I want to install the running gear before I put the railings on and paint the waterline so it is easier to handle.
I have to make the chairs for the bridge and install interior in that section.
Hope to have it nearly completed this winter.
I will take current pics and post them
Thanks for your interest!

Hi Guapoman
I am building the same boat from Dumas

It was pointed out at RCGroups that Tony indeed must have copied the DUMAS model. Of course Tony used Light Plywood and Balsa and he cut wood basically his own methods but, according to Mark, the new owner it is 33.5 Inches long and about 11 inches wide so, it matches the DUMAS size scale.

Glad to learn you are doing this model.

If I can not use that motor I just ordered from that Ryobi Circular Saw tool, and if you are interested I may just let it go in case you do not have a power system yet.

Carlos

I want to order my running gear from Mack Products.
Can't seem to get through to them.
Does anyone know if they are up and running after the damage from hurricane Sandy?
