Borkum steam launch

Hi, I am building a steam powered kit by Krick. This is my first model build and my first exposure to radio controlled anything, so I really am clueless. The build is going surprisingly well. The materials are top notch and I have a source of help when I get stuck. I am at a point in my build where I need to purchase and install the RC elements. I know that I’ll need two servos, one for the rudder and one to operate the steam engine. I’ll need a transmitter, receiver, battery and off/on switch. The boat is a bit under 3 feet in length and it will weight about 5 lbs with its engine and ballast. I could use some suggestions as to what would work the best and where I might buy it. Thanks, Torpart

A simple entry end 2.4GHz stick radio outfit with 4 channels will do the job. Just avoid anything that has a "park flyer" label, look for "mode 2", look for a radio that has mechanical trims and servo reverse switches, avoid those that need a PC on the end of a programming cable to set up. Look around various threads and you will see some makes mentioned more than others. Futaba, Hitec, Flysky all give good quality.
For your money you get a transmitter and a receiver. The same shop will supply servos and a suitable battery harness.
Yes, you only need 2 channels, but you don't plug into the unwanted ones.
