Astro Flight esc's
 

Hello all,

I'm about to put running gear into a very large aircraft carrier and I'd like some opinions on esc's. I have a 9'9" aircraft carrier, CV-6 Enterprise, and I am installing 4 speed 600 motors. Haven't decided yet if they'll be geared or direct drive yet. Power will be from a 12 volt battery. I'm going to pair the motors in series port and starboard and use 2 esc's on individual sticks so that I have independent contorl of the pairs for better handling.

I have a few different esc's but I'm not all that impressed with their slow speed control. I'd like an esc that will just let the props tick over and most don't seem to be able to do that. Does anyone have experience with the Astro Flight esc's? Are they able to slow way down?

No experience with Astro's, but I did just put in one of these in my boat. The Minicon Maxcan handle alot of hp, and it's reversable!:)

I am currently using an Astroflight ESC in my Dumas Typhoon running a 12 volt motor with two 7.2v six cell packs in series (producing 14.4v at 3000 mah) and it runs fine at all speeds.

I just got a pair of Astro 208D's. Very nice esc's. At the lowest setting the props just tic over just as I wanted. I'm wiring them in series in pairs to keep the amp draw low and the top speed down. These are going in a huge aircraft carrier that does not need high speed. If the power is insufficient to move it out against a breeze or current then I can rewire it for parallel.
