Dumas Trojan

Hey guys I am rebuilding a Trojan that was my girlfriends when she was little. Now I'm to repowering it my only problem is that it is only a single screw. I'm looking to get it up on plane but not outragiously fast. Maybe 15 mph right now it has a single 6v dumas motor. maybe 5-8 mph but runs for an hour and a half on a 4600 mah pack.
I was looking at the aquacraft brushless setup or maybe the johnson 970. Thanks in advance. |
RE: Dumas Trojan
i just sold mine. it was a twin screw... i poered it with a cheap remote and 2 540 racing motors ..... i would sugest goin nitro inboard on this boat. as it it one screw should be easy..... a trx .15 pro marine would work great with it:) good luck on rebuild .... as far as i know i still have the plans for this boat if you would like them let me know we may be able to do a swap or for very lil money involved..:)

RE: Dumas Trojan
personally I'f go with a 700 series, for least amount of fuss.

RE: Dumas Trojan
I would like to steer away from nitro because this has turned into the rescue boat when one of mine dies out there. Thanks for the input

A 700 and 12 cells would be way to much power for this model. I have seen a Trojan powered with IIRC a 550 motor on 6-cells and it was capable of going too fast for 'scale' speed.

RE: Dumas Trojan
I talked with the owner yesterday and found out it was indeed twin powered and not single powered. Two 600 motors, each on 6-cells.

RE: Dumas Trojan
that looks like the speed I am looking for. I mean the real one does about 20 knots so just up on plane is good for me. I think I might try the 720 turbo but not sure I starting to steer away from brushless because of wanting to run at slow speeds as well. But anymore ideas are great.
