crane for barge
im trying to build a barge with working crane trying to find something to pick up proboat mini-v and place on deck any ideas

umi you know a lot about this sort of stuff what would be the scale size of a barge for the 26 inch sheely foss it 1/45 scale

i mean i want big with floodable tank so its easy to carry and when i get to the water pump water into it until it sits good in the water probaly going to build out of 1/4 plywood and fiberglass

Some 1 by 4's for the sides and 1/4" ply for the bottom and deck makes for a quick and simple barge.

i want something i can ride on so i dont know how big it most i was thinking 5-6 feet long 3 feet wide 1 foot tall i think that wiill float me and anyboy else who wants a ride the max i think will be 150- 160

A standard river barge around here is around 200'x40', @ 1/45 scale thats 53"x 10 "
Of course they typically raft these barges together into 2x6 unit rafts. Mississippi river tows get much bigger. A sea going barge at 438'x 105' @ 1/45 scale is 116.8"x 28" Have a look around Towboat Joe's web site for more river barge sizes, and the size of the tows they put together on the Mississippi. |
