nice craft i prefer to scratch build as nice as your model is moulding plastic has its limitations where as balsawood can be cardved ,cut in to any shape you want just out of curiosity how does your craft perform i am back onto the SRN6 MK5 as the skirt is partly ready so i have started to put the main part on theres just a smaller bag at the back see http://www.flickr.com/photos/1975995...7604498903510/ just the bottom of the bag to attatch

RE: new hovercraft

Wow that's truly amazing how you just shape your hovercrafts out of balsa wood. I bet it is a very tedious job. You ask how does mine run? Well im satisfied with it because it does everything a hovercraft should do. I purchased a separate speed controller for the lift fan so both the thrust fan and the lift fan can be proportional. It flies nice. The lift fan fills the bag at less than 50% power, any thing more and the bag starts to viberate against the surface. The thrust motor came with the kit so decided to use that first to see what kind of power i got out of it and it works nice. The only problem i have is slowing down. When i get up speed on a smooth surface i have to let air out of the bag to slow down or else i will run into something. I guess that is just where i need to hone my skill. Other than that i pretty much fabricated the thrust fan shroud out of light ply and made a rudder for it where i have a servo attached to it in the rear of the craft. I dunno its okay but your models are just full of so much detail and has so many working parts. thats what i like about your models

As i said i did not buildthis particular modle but scrach building is relativly easy thin ply for the decks and balsa spars i have had a word wiht Mark and hes a bit busy at the moment to build you one if you wnat to scrath build a Model hover theres diffent ways of doing it theres the Griffon 200 TDX the plans are free form http://www.model-hovercraft.com/2000tdx/2000tdx.html it a nice caft to build and i have built one as have mant other people so threes lots of info on the web about them or thres the Grifin600 model avalibe from http://www.modelhovercraft.co.uk/index.php?q=65.html or the SRN6 plan avalible from traplet publications for a firts scrachbuild i would go for the griffon 2000 than you can build sometihng that looks like this
