How to prevent torsion?
Hi,
I just wonder, if i trow my throttle up, my boat wants to lie down on his side.
How do you guys prevent that from hapening?

Is there some way to compesate that behavior?

Hi,

If it is ballasted correctly that will be minimized. The model should have most of the weight in the keel with flotation on or about the waterline. However, if you apply too much throttle too fast it can happen to almost any model. In addition, some models have larger sail planes than others, which will minimize rotation. You don't mention which submarine you are speaking of so I can only guess. If the sub is overpowered or has a larger than needed screw that can also be a problem.

If it is a real problem you can always recheck and reballast as needed. In addition, you could attach some clear plastic sail planes on the bottom (keel) which will help with stability

Hope that helps

Hi, thanks for the reply.

It's a hull of a Dragon-Shark, only with a extended wtc ( the hul is the wtc ) only the nose and the rear are original Dragon-Shark.
The motor is a 550, it's the original motor and the prop is also original.
It suposed to be powered with 12 V, i only use 7.2, so that's 4.8 V les than.

So the balance is the only thing left, ore am i mistaken?

You can lessen the props pitch and or lesson the rate that you apply the throtle ,if you cant add more ballast to counter the efect this helps quite a bit.
I have a Shark also and have increased the ballast to eliminate the roll.

Witch dragon do you have?
There are differand types of them.
First was a dynamic one, also know as "red shark".
Then there was one with 2 airpumps and a airblader in the front
And a other shark has a waterblader inside the wtc.

I got the one with the airpumps, and finaly had found some time to build it.
But i replaced the 2 airpumps for a waterpump and tried to get the blader inside the wtc.
But there wasn't any space left to do it right.
So i build a other wtc from a sewerpipe with the same size, except imade it about 10 cm longer,
to createmore room to build in the internals.

when i tried to run it with the original hull, it just wants to lie down.

Now with the new wtc, i don't know how she wil react, butsheneeds more ballast to trim here out.

how much does your boat wheigt and how much balast doesshe carry?

I have the first Red Shark imported ,i made my own ballast system and longer hull ,so just use 2 rubber bands while in the test tank , emty ballast tank and add lead until you are happy with the behavior, remember she will dive faster and deeper so try to get a level sub at the top of the sail waterline ,then a small amount more lead to make her dive to the bottom slowly, you are limited with space to adjust ballast in this type of sub ,no free water space so be carefull.

Ok, thanks.
Project is at the moment on hold.
Cleaning out the attic to create some room.
If that is done i want to instal a testtank.
Had a little kiddyswimmingpool in the garden, but because of the weather i had to put it away.
So this moment i dont have something to test the boat.
I did almost the same thing as you did.
But instead of two i have one ( hope its enough to bring her down).
