Default Servo Sizing

Im in the market for servos for my custom fiberglass hull submarine (think skipjack or albacore without a sail, or if your the engineering type it is a NACA 0014 airfoil profile as a body fo rotation hull). The question I have is how do you scale the servos for your control surfaces? I can find servos from gram to kiligram centimeters of torque (or oz inches) but I don tknow how to figure out how much torque I practically need. Ideally I'm looking for the lowest profile servo I can find that still produces the required force.

The widest part of the hull is 6" inside diameter, and the total length is 42".

Any advice?<br type="_moz" />

Default RE: Servo Sizing

Hi,
Submarines typically don't need the latest and greatest of servo technology. Coreless, high speed, brushless super high torque servos are all cool but not needed. Any standard sized servo should serve you well. Ball bearing servos will be a bit smoother but really, how much do you want to spend? That will most likely dictate what you will buy.
