Default Revell 1/230 skipjack conversion

Been a while since I've been over to the submarine section, so I figured I'd contribute again. Picked me up a revell 1/230 skipjack for 20 bucks..figured what the heck why not. I plan to convert it to rc at a reasonably low price so I wanted to ask for advice on parts to buy. I am getting these items for sure:
1. Revell skipjack fittings kit 65$
2. x2 hk linear servos 5$ each
3. Some regular servo connectors 2 or 3$
4. Corona synthesized 72 MHz four channel receiver 16$
So far everything comes out to 109$ including the sub itself..
What I don't want to spend a ton of money on is the blasted wtc. I'm hoping there is a cheaper solution to these wtc's then the sub-driver D&E wtc. That would cost me 145$ which I do not want to spend. Any tips on how to build a cheaper wtc would be great!!!
thanks Josh

Bought the servos, battery, esc, 6ch receiver, and the skipjack fittings kit. Also built a wtc..

You can't use a receiver on 72MHz for a boat, car or sub. You would need to get one that is on 27 or 75MHz to be legal per FCC rules.
