I am thinking of equiping a wally world sea wolf with an rc camera. After modifying it, i'm going to try taking it to the ocean.
salt water greatly reduces the receptability right? So would it work to take the sub's receptor and put it into a buoy, and connect the sub and its receptor with a wire? Then the signal would basically only be traveling through water right?
Any ideas about this?
thanks,
Cullers

Ive heard stuff about this, i dont think taking the wally sub to the ocean is a good idea, maybe if it was a bay, also the cam would have to be a very small, and plus the wallmart sub depths are not very deep.

oh.[&o] So how about taking the modified sub to a bay (which isn't too salty), and using electric wire to attach the sub to the remote, and using a fishing reel to let it go out and come in. sounds kind of weird but...
the camera I was thinking about using was a small wireless, long-range 2.4 ghz cam used for helicopters and planes and stuff. Would the range (which is like 450 yds) be seriously reduced if in saltyish water?

Well, the principle of a submerged vehicle having a wire attached to a remote is exactly how a ROV works, no problem with that. However, keep in mind that a Walmart sub is designed to be Radio Controlled, which means that the antenna cannot be extended beyond a certain length or else the signal gets diluted.

uh huh I see. hmm. so I guess there would be no way of doing this unless the whole sub's system were changed, right?
stink.
So I guess the thing to do is just use a well-modified sub and try to get as deep as I can (within safety)!
