Default How to imitate the type VII wooden deck?

Not only for scale look, but also to convert the kit to RC: the decks had many holes, or slots, so to speak, in order to let air escape when diving, and the decks provided by the Rvell 1/72 kit don't have them.

Someone found a solution?

Thanks

What about a slotting tool used for the control surfaces on R/C aircraft? I'm not sure how big the slots are but it could work

Is buying the the wooden deck kit out of the question? The slots are all cut out already.

Buying the wooden deck is out of question. Not only the shipping is expensive to Argentina, but also I don't think it will arrive at my hands.

The simplest way to do it is to just use the kit's deck. Just drill some small hole to vent the air out. For scale effect just paint the deck recesses black

I'm seriously considering using the cutter to cut the slots, as a drill will produce round holes which is a no-no for scale effect.

Is it possible to use a small enough drill bit to drill some pilot holes and enlarge them out with a rectangular file?

I wish it would be possible, but the slots are a fraction of 1 mm wide.

By using a flat screwdriver and a small hammer, I punched some slots, not all because the deck started to soften. Some sanding is pending, maybe I'll stick to this method for the other two decks:

Those slots are only for scale appearance, no air is going to escape from there, unless your sub is deep under water (and then you'll be wishing you held onto that air to help you get back up!). The slots are too small that air wont be able to over surface tension of the water as you just go under.

Did it softened to a point where it can be easily broken?

No, but have to be very carefull about. I'll try to take and post some picture about.. By the way, I posted about your ballast system for TRUMPETER 1/144 SEAWOLF, didn't realized about english is the forum language exclusively and, of course, the message was removed. Posted again today, because I'm very interested in your system for my SEAWOLF.

Regards.

Don't understand what's happening, because the message saying the file is uploaded appears, but not in the reply as an attachment.
