The sub's frame

Hey, does anyone know what i should use to make a the front of my sub where its rounded, because I'm using a 3and a quarter inch PBC pipe for my sub'd body. Om building mine from scratch. i know they sell the rounded end like that but i can't find them, and there an other way to build one?

Why not glue a piece of foam to the front of the pipe. Carve it to the dimension you want then cover it with a couple of layers of fiberglass cloth. THen carve or pull out the foam leaving the fiberglass cap. which you can then glue to the pipe and feather it in with a little Bondo, should work well.

You can get some really heavy stuff at the car parts store with the fiberglass resin and Bondo. You can find the lighter stuff at most hobby shops. Or Towerhobbies has it, do a search there and you should find it.

I am going to use plastic acrylic ball halves (used for making christmas ornaments) and they are clear they come in 2 three and 4 inch sizes. you can get them at Joanns craft store. Kind of a woman's store,, just do a quick scan of the area so your friends won't see you going in... You know,,,, The balls are clear and so you can pain them from the inside and make port hole looking windows and also can use a camera. what makes a neat window for the front ( I am building a non scale research sub). I hope I helped a little.. I love the fiberglass idea too. i am going to use that for something else.. TOm

I forgot What makes a real neat front for a PVC sub is if you can find one,, one of those 8 ball fortune telling balls with that blue liquid and triangle. cut it in half and use the part with the sight glass and it looks so much like a sub window. Just an idea I was thinking about but I never did it.. Tom

I never built a PVC submarine at 12 I have played music by then though. Age isn't a major deal,, I mean you are 12,,,, I am 34,,, there are people that are 78 that do this and older., this is just a temporary situation we are going to a much better place. Don't listen to negitive people concerning your age. if that is what you have faced,. If you want to build one who cares how old you are just do it. only 4 years from now you will be driving!!! 4 years ain't much time in reality.. so 12 is old enough to embark on most things you could even drive right now if your parents allowing... go for it and don't worry about age,. I think you can build a sub as good as i can!!!!! or better. Good Luck and God bless

I have an idea for you, if what I'm thinking of is the right size, find the pantyhose department and buy the crap with the plastic egg!

those have the perfect nose for your PVC sub! :-)
