Camera
Hey guys,
I've got a camera the diameter of a nickle and It has a short antenna.(1/2 inch) to mount it on my RC sub I need a longer antenna. (3 FT) so if I remove the cap and replace it with wire, would that work? |
RE: Camera
Hi,
The antenna is simply a piece of wire. Adding wire would probably not hurt anything, however the length of wire can also be related to the wave-length of the frequency. I wouldn't bother opening up the camera, just remove a bit of the insulator at the end and add wire to it. You should be able to solder to it if you are careful. If it doesn't work, you can simply unsolder it, and use some shrink tubing to seal it up again if desired. But it should work ok, however the range will not increase if that is what your looking to do. Good Luck! -J |
RE: Camera
If I sodder on wire then add a spring filled with Iron fillings, Would that
Be sensitive enough to recieve weak signals? |
RE: Camera
Sure I don't see why not. I have the same camera. (I think) I'm not sure the spring has to have iron fillings in it? As long as it is conductive metal it should work including aluminum.
Keep me informed, I'm Very curious of your results. Feel free to PM me or send me an Email: [email protected]. Thanks! -J |
RE: Camera
well, I'm on vacation right now, and a long ways away from
my camera(which needs repair) and my soddering gun. But.. I'll send an email to anyone who would want the specs. Just send me an E-mail at [email protected] (Look familler) I'll probably get back to you in 2 weeks. |
