Wait how big is the diesel engine and how are you going to control the engine in the first place? what happens when the diesel fuel runs out and the sub is unbalanced? I guess anything is possible if you see it in your head possible then it is.

These guys make great modules http://www.jjc-electronics.com/
Easy to use a spare channel to switch it off, either use a servo controlling a micro switch to intrupt power to the sound module or a neater way is to use an electronic switch like the ones Subtech sell. You may even be able to rig up a water level sensing switch at will automaticall switch it off when you dive, without having to resort to a spare rc channel.

It's not actually a diesel engine, more of a sound generator.

The sound generator dosn't take much power, why bother turning it off at all? When you are under the water, I doubt it will be audible from the surface.

yes heres a pic of the switch and servo the module is mounted under the reciever, it uses the tube to amplify the sound, so far so good, i still need to test it at distance and may need to put a small amplifier in but ill let everyone know after she has been in the water....

I would use a peizo electric speaker (they are waterproof, very light and should cost about £2)and place it in the conning tower for maximum effect.

Thanks Taxidriver.........just a few minutes before I read your post, I told someone that I bet they had waterproof speakers that we could put in the conning tower...............and low and behold! they do!!!! I think I have found some here in America that might work................and if this does not help me catch that man nothing will!!! Thanks sooooooo much!!! patsy
