making this rc

im to make this small reveel sub into a rc sub heres the link http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXEL91&P=W and i have the idea and most of the radio stuff does anybody know the best wtc for it if never build a wtc but all i want out of this model is a surface runner so i was going to see if i could water tight the hull but even if i could stop all the leaks the hull if it floats where it should there would be less than a 1/2 between the water and the deck if have a very small radio and micro servos but no speed control battery setup it thinking about use a 4 aaa battery setup to power everything radio and all any suggestion on a wtc and mirco motors

thanks nicole

Well here is a good 3ch radio system it does have speed control but it is powered by 4AAA batteries. You will have to find a 75mhz crystal though so that it is legal to run on the surface.

You cant turn a 72Mhx set into a 75mhz set by simply changing the crystals. You'll need to get the TX and RX retuned to 75mhx as well. Basically big bucks. Get the right radio to start with.

If you're willing to RC the USS Lionfish, you might as well consider investing in a Revell 1/72 USS Gato. It's the basically the same class of fleetboats but with hell of a lot more room for your electronics. Downside? Might be a little expensive but there is a nice WTC system available from here:

Plus if everything is done right you'll have a beautifully running static diver (surface runners are for noobs!:D).

How about posting some pictures of your subs internals.
Even with 2 channels you can make it into a dynamic diver. Make sure she's sealed up really watertight. Set the bow plans at an down angle. Push the throttle forward and hopefully she'll dive.

How much did it cost? Was it under 100$? I've been looking for a cheap, realiable sub. PM me.

"Cheap and reliable" don't really go together...;)

RE: making this rc

i glue the bottom of the hull together really well used old electronics out of a car a servo motor and a 7.2 battery out of a duratrax mini quake it is not watertight it is a surface runner the deck is held on with little screws and would leak if went under water but the bottom is water tight it float with out leaks its very reliable in a pool only sank once accidently dropped a kayak on it sank like a rock but it pretty fast i want to build one thats a static diver i hated dynamic divers static is much better

pm me or something i found a website that sells a dynamic diver kit for it here it is

Thanks for posting PUREMTC's site. I had lost sight of them early on and see now that they have expanded their product line.

Good work on your Revell Lionfish. Good too see it underway when all it was originally designed to do was sit on a shelf and gather dust. [sm=thumbs_up.gif]
