RE: My Soviet Tanks and Allied Tanks
Hal,
Great looking Pershing, I am in the process of trying to finish mine upbut in reviewing your pics are you saying that the turret clamp is in the wrong spot? I am new to all of this and I know mine is not going to be perfect but I would like to make it as close as possible. Nice build.

The only wrong thing ismain gun itself... it is shorter than the original (Tamiya as the example) + configuration-shape is different...
all other things are redone and the models is closer to its protype in other parts...
Still the is "inCorrect Pershing"

I was waiting for quite some time... so now at least I can start this project - KV-220.
One of the most powerful Soviet Tank ever built and lost in action in 1941 in Lenengrad Battle.
We built 3 models, one with standard turret. two others with another one.
First - scatch (you can compare it to KV-2), all others - built start.
to be comtinued...

just to continue...
upper cover is a difficulty... as KV-220 was bigger and longer...
so the decision was taken to cut the KVcover into 3 pieces and make it a whole thing by adding them with the metal corners...

if you talk about KV-220 - it has not been weathered yet... if Pershing - yeah, it is a very interesting model.

There were three KV-220 made.
KV-220(1) with a different turret, with 85 mm main gun... but when it was sent to the front line the 85mm was changed into 76mm - standard KV-1 main gun.
The others KV-220 (2 and 3) were with standard KV-1 turrets with standard main 76 mm guns...
So to make the KV-220(1) turet today I have been forced to buy the stand model in 1:72 scale to check all data +take measurements... So we'll see how it will go.
Stay tuned...

low hull is completely done - dust and water protected + painted (not weathered yet)...
Tamiya electronics + MATO(version 3.0) 3:1 gear. Motors are different to Tamiya and original MATO due to the fact of making the model movement more real.
KV-220 was 62,7 tonns heavy. The first movement of the model is very slow (DMD T05 + MATOgear makes it very slow).
upper cover has been started to be redone....

Hello Hal
Enjoy the 220 you are modeling. The KV was always interesting to me as it was the heavy 'Tiger' tank until the German Tiger came out and greatly feared on the battlefield. Under rated in my estimation.
What was the top speed of the KV-220? Did it have the same power plant as the KV-I?

Interesting....what was the reason for making the tank longer? Soft ground preformance?...
found this.....

and this....
http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?...opic_id=177648
OK, so it was more armor....more weight and bigger motor...cool.

actualy NO... the power unit was much powerful than in KV-1 and KV-2...
It was V-2SN, 850 horse powerturbo diesel, but still the speed was 33 - 35 km/h . But for 62,3 tonns it is not bad in comparison with KV-1 (43,6 tonns) - 34-40 km/h.
