If you have model tanks in the front seat, the lost story is harder to pull off. Take a fishing pole instead.

Better yet than the 'lost' story...
Take your tanks in operational shape. Show 'em, and say you are hoping for more accuracy if they have ones like 'em in the 'roster/motorpool'... then see if they let ya look around. They may not let ya turn one over, but they might let ya look inside and out ~with~ your camera.
I'm ~still~ waitying for my EODC 'display' day... but its looking more and more like I've had my chain yanked by his-nibs the Idjit Nephew yet again.
Good luck, and anyone getting in, WE DEMAND PICS/VIDEO!

I had to re-read the part about talking sense into you...
What I would do:
1 Go to the county records office and look up the "owner of record". That will give you a name and address for a person to contact.
2 Write a letter to that person explaning your desire to view tanks and why. Request permission to photograph tanks for modeling refrence.
3 Offer reasonable compensation to the company allowing access, to offset any extra hassles your visit would cause.
4 Explain that you understand that the answer could be NO, but you would like an answer to this request.
5 Send the letter, regestered mail, return recipet, US Mail.
If the answer is YES, take your tanks and share the pix with us all.

Well I did it!
I made the National Terrorist Watch list, lol.
My idiotic self got a little overzealous and exposed myself to an area I knew I would encounter confrontation when I seen a couple tripods setup that appear to have weapons mounted. But ah well, at least my curiosity has been satisfied.
I'll post pics/vids later.

Dude, if you made the national terrorist watch, doesnt that mean people are watching 24/7???

I'm sure they'll watch out for me in the future, but if it were anything as severe as they led me to believe, I wouldn't have been home with in 30 minutes of being escorted out of the area. But I'm going back, that's for sure. Just gotta find me a different vehicle and someone to go with me this time so I can actually get some great shots. It's an M26/M41 grave site.

Hard to see, but from this angle those look like M-48s and know a couple years ago they had about 200 M-47s is running condition, earmarked as hard targets. M-26s have been long gone as well as a few m-46s.

Not tanks, but anyone interested in military history should look at what's happening to us.
Nearly 1 million American rifles. Banned by a stroke of Barack Obama’s pen.
In a move unprecedented in American history, the Obama Administration quietly banned the re-importation of nearly one million American made M1 Garand and Carbine rifles.
The M1 Garand, developed in the late 1930’s, carried the United States through World War II seeing action in every major battle.
General Patton at the time called the M1 Garand “the greatest battle implement ever devised.â€
The rifle is largely credited with giving American soldiers the advantage and securing victory for the allies.
During the Korean War, nearly one million of these rifles were brought to South Korea and left with the South Korean government afterward.
Now, South Korea wants to give American gun collectors the chance to get their hands on this unique piece of history.
A piece of American history that Barack Obama would like to see go down the memory hole.
That’s why I want as many Americans as possible to put themselves on record opposing this gun ban by signing the Official Firearms Freedom Survey the National Association for Gun Rights has prepared for you.
Will you please join me?
After World War II, the United States government sent millions of these rifles overseas to our allies and friends.
Over the past 50 years, many of the countries we lent them to returned them to America to be bought and sold by firearms collectors.
This is nothing new.
Make no mistake; these rifles were made in America, by Americans, for Americans, to defend freedom on foreign shores.
As a part of our history, they are greatly sought after by American shooters and collectors.
But according to Hillary Clinton’s State Department there is a danger they might “fall into the wrong hands.â€
That they might, possibly, one day be used in a crime.
No mention of the hundreds of thousands of gun owners deprived of the opportunity to own an integral part of American history.
The State Department’s outrageous claims are nothing more than a thinly veiled ploy to distract from the real issue:
President Obama’s deep seated hatred for gun rights.
While his gun-grabbing base is giddy with praise at this back-door gun ban, law-abiding citizens across the United States are crying foul.
Let me be clear: at no time in U.S. history has the ownership of this firearm or any part of this firearm been illegal, restricted or banned.
Americans have collected World War II M1 Garand and Carbine rifles for decades.
Now they are sold through the Civilian Marksmanship Program.
You can even purchase a newly manufactured model from Springfield Armory that was made just a month or two ago.
And the M1 Garand’s caliber or capacity is no more dangerous than the millions of modern firearms owned by Americans across the country today.
As you can see, there is absolutely no justification for this unconstitutional gun ban.
This is just the latest in a series of anti-gun schemes from the Obama Administration:
*** New BATFE regulations on semi-automatic rifles, requiring firearms dealers to act as an informant to anti-gun federal bureacrats if someone buys more than one rifle;
*** The Disarming American Citizens Act (H.R. 2159 in the last Congress) letting Attorney General Eric Holder revoke the Second Amendment rights of ANY American he chooses based on pure suspicion;
*** Notorious anti-gunners appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court and other senior administration positions;
That’s why it is essential that Americans like you and I take a stand against the M1 Garand gun ban!

I was just joking/exaggerating about that.....I hope. They did look at my I.D. and record my vehicle tag...so who knows? lol

I'll post the vid later. Gotta try to clean it up some.
Steel tracks and Padded tracks, 1000cfm and 400cfm blower side by side. Roughly 32 tanks down this row.

That's amazing....never seen that many Pershings. I was told that those were all shot up as hard targets years ago. Maybe that's at White Sands, where I was trying to procure an M-47.
Heres a great site....very good videos of modern Japanese armor..and some very sweet looking tankers.

Well I was going to get in a little painting this afternoon on the Sherman, but with the temperature at 95 and a heat index of 113 ... forget that!
I really need to get that paint booth built so relying on the weather will be a thing of the past!

Know the feeling Panther F:
Another heat wave this week, ~plus~ humidity. 28c today, 39c after ya add the 'dex. Too freakin' hot for me. This whole week is gonna be a write off, as I'll be too flaked to do anything but cool shower and sleep after 10 hours in a car. At least when we're rolling, Idjit insists on using the A/C, and to hell with the mileage. Dun look good for a salesman to be sweatin', now does it?
Biggtony:
Hope ya can make a friend at the 'depot/dump' and get us some nice close-ups. Ain't there a name on that sign on the fence? Tried lookin' them up in the phone book? Worth a shot... and bringin' the ~expensive~ R/C's tends to say more " I'm a modeler in search of detailing/research material " than a " I'm a nutcase/terrorist/whatever in search of a heavy metal beast to go on a rampage with! "
Doesn't it?

Cool and raining here.
Yesterday we had 1 inch hail, it blew out both the skylights in my camper. Tree branches all over the ground, flowers pummeled to death. No broken windows this time...
Not good tanking weather.

Send us some of the heat!! We are running 10 F below normal, and the Sea is way colder than normal. By this time of year the water should be about 25 to 27C, but it's only 20C if that. Means a hard winter, as the Sea keeps us warmer than inland during winter...normall.
