Default Panther G In East Front Colors/Markings?

I am looking for suggestions for a future project, so I am looking for some good, historical knowlege on this one.

Specifically, I am looking for options on colors and marings that would be correct for a Panther G (not earlier versions) operating on the eastern front.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

By the time the G entered service they would have been using the 3 color camo. I'm not sure if any G's actually made it to the Eastern Front.
They certainly where there by the time the Russians had pushed them back into Germany.
They used the Ambush pattern as well as the 3 color scheme.
Some even had Zimmerite on them but they would have had to have been early G models. The ambush pattern was on the western front in Normandy and other places in France.
The early ones I have seen also used just 2 colors with white wash but these where still on the western front.
I'll try to dig a little further and see what pops up, but one suggestion is too look up the Grobst Duetchland Div. They had Panthers and tigers on the eastern front as well as the 1st, and 2nd SS Div. I'm not sure if the 3rd, Totenkomph Div. had them or not.

I have assumed (perhaps inciorrectly) some made it east, at least into Poland in late 1944 since I beleive the G's were made from March 1944 to May 1945 and approx. 2,900 were made, I thought it was likely that not all of those were sent west.

Oddly, while I read the G was the most numerous model, my limited references have the least amount of info on them and focus on the earlier versions.

I despise that ambush paint pattern so maybe something like this,

PzDiv Feldherrnhalle 2 - Chekoslovakia 1945

Is there anyone out there who can identify this one, in regards to the place, time, unit?

The colors amy be a bit "off" in the picture.

Way too early to say, I don't expect to pick up another Panther until Nov. at the Toronto Hobby Show. http://www.thehobbyshow.com/Toronto_...al_Centre.html

My present goal is to get another SLU and Tactic radio and re-do my first Tiger I.

Right now, I like the one shown here, I have heard but need to verify it was a 3rd Panzer Div. Panther.

Thanks, guys

Frantz70, that's interesting.

MAUS45, I like that one too, but it is similar to my Panther G in HG Div. colors.

That one's interesting.

I am expecting delivery of a book I ordered, soon, that might help with identifying this sort of thing.

The 3rd would have been the Totenkopf div. and that is not one of the paterns they used. From everything I have read and seen the only Div that used these types of patterns where the Herman Georing Div.There may have been others but it is a very rare style that was not used by many units.

Time to dust this one off.

The completion of the KT draws near and the re-finish of my first Tiger I is next in the production line; but, one must plan ahead.

I did a quick search on this unit, it sounds like had a short but interesting history and if these colours are accurate, it is a bit unique and would not look like something that is already in my "collection".

Is there anyone here that know's more about this stuff than I do (and thats a lot of you) able to comment on the accuracy of it and if so, what would those colours likely have been? (calling Rivetcounter)

Herman
Georing Div where the only ones that i have been able to verify that used the splinter camo. Most of them where wiped out as this unit did not do to well from what i can find but i like that pattern and it was going to be my next Panther paint job.
the colors would have been the standard sand yellow and green, with maybe some red brown dges thrown in. As always the Rivetcounter would be the best person to ask. I may be completely off as not all the available info out there is reliable.

Perhaps, but I have read some stuff that indicates they had their moments;

The division arrived at theVistulafront in late-July and was immediately thrown into action, fighting alongside the veteran5th SS Panzer-DivisionWikingand the 19th Panzer Division on theVistula RiverbetweenModlinand Warsaw.

During heavy fighting, the division, along with theWiking,
completely decimated the Red Army's 3rd Tank Corps.

All I know is that it was in Poland in 1944 so you may be able to do a little research to find out what units where active there. i'll try myself to help.
