Default Panzer III metal wheels

Hey guys,

I'm about order the metal wheels upgrade from Mato here:

http://www.matomart.com/prodview.php?p=655

and I was wondering, will these be compatible with the stock HL suspension arms? Or will I also need to order the metal suspension set (http://www.matomart.com/prodview.php?p=656) as well?

Lastly, does anyone know where I can get a set of standalone metal drive sprockets? Mato only sells them with the metal tracks apparently...

Cheers!

The wheels will fit, as far as I know... now for the P3 metal hull & arms they use an axel that is held in by a set screw, but I believe the 'upgrade' metal wheels are the usual ones that split apart and are screwed into the suspension arm normally.

Hi Nate,

You may want to consider this upgrade set from RCTANK.DE. They are a good vendor to work with just like Mato, but in Germany. This set includes the drive sprockets with raised casting numbers, idlers with bearings, return rollers ad road wheels with the "Continental" raised letters on the rubber part of the wheels.
The kit shipped to you in Canada would be roughly 75 euros or 96.31 CAD. Mato's price just for the wheels is 69 CAD with free shipping. I know the price is better from Mato, but you get more with the other set and more detail. Check out my StuG III G post at....

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11219561/tm.htm

And here is the RCTANK.DE site as well.... http://www.rctank.de/product_info.php?products_id=664

Impact makes a set of Drive Sprockets and Idlers as well you can check here..... http://www.mitosal.com/Panzerlll.html

And last but not least the RCTANK.DE/Asiatam set will work with the standard plastic swing arms on the Heng Long Panzer III. Mato set is a copy so they should work as well.

Happy Tanking/Building/Upgrading,

Rudy

Out of curiosity for those who have ordered from RCTANK.DE, how long did it take to ship from Germany to Canada?

you will pay for the order in Germany though. Both the cost and the shipping is higher than ordering here in Canada

I agree 100%. Answered all my emails even though he was going on a week long vacation. Pay a bit more in shipping, but it's also the customer service that counts ( I really don't recall the shipping prices to be that bad, but they were just some lite plastic parts).

5 business days from Germany is really good! Do they use courier? When I ordered, the website simply mentioned that they're shipping my order via German Post

They use DHL Express. DHL Express was bought by Deutsche Post AG.

Service is Everything. I have many times paid willingly higher shipping costs on items for the sake of the service provided by the seller.

Is there a reason not to just get the Asiatam Panzer III lower hull setup?

If someone has a link to it then might get an idea of price and know if it's worth it or not. Everything lower metal (hull is so-so but better than the warped plastic like my HL was), return rollers in the corrected location, and comes with the rubber wheel/roller bits needed.

Of course Mato is selling the all metal PIII for $600, but that's up there in the price range.

I have the Asiatam PzIII lower hull setup.  It's a great setup.  One upgrade to consider would be this to reinforce the idler adjuster:  http://www.modellbaugasse.de/shop/ar...%26aid%3D13%26

I also have the Impact metal upgrades (got before I took the plunge on the Asiatam).  I like the detail of the Asiatam a little better, but it becomes a matter of preference.  Both are good.  I have the Impact swing arms, sprockets and idlers if someone is interested.  I went with the Asiatam for its aspect as a kit - metal hull, torsion bars, metal wheels, etc.

Guys,

Good news, I have received my upgrade set from Dominique today and I'm getting ready to install them on my tank. I noticed that there are two options for the drive sprocket caps, one with raised rivets and the other that is smooth. Which would be accurate for an Ausf H?

I have seen photos of both Panzer III's and Stugs with the hub cap on and off. The smooth version is the hub cap. The one that looks like rivets is supposed to represent the bolts that hold the drive sprocket on, but as you said, they look more like rivets.
