So I wonder if the 1/24 scale Tiger I drive sprocket would pass for a 1/16 scale Lynx drive sprocket? Hmmm dis is very interesting?

Are you referring to this "Lynx"?

For those of you who are waiting to see my Somua S35 painted, today WAS going to be the day. But first I have to stop crying and saying really bad words. I will post photos of the dumb thing I did to really screw things up as soon as I calm down. I never had this problem before, I have no idea what happened this time.
I painted the model with a French 3 color camo scheme with a thin black border separating the colors. The paint is Tamiya flat acrylic. The black border is Sanford black permanent marker. Since the decals I used had a gloss finish, I carefully sprayed the model with Model Master Lusterless Lacquer. I've used it before ...... no problem. This time the Sanford permanent marker thinned/dissolved and ran down over the paint below it.
I'm gonna hafta learn how to say dirty words in other languages ....... I used up all of the ones I know in English today.

Merde, sacre bleu, and a couple of other ones in French (of equal stature to the F-bomb), might help. I'd say them here, but my French-Canadian wife would not approve. And there's that Tamiya PZ IV I'm after...

Sorry to hear that Rex - but I'm pretty sure once you're done it'll be awesome. Can't wait to see this finished.
You've inspired me to take on a 100% scratchbuild... doing a Valentine!
Love seeing those Battle of France tanks.

i know just how you feel Rex Ross i have done a lot of airbrushing on items using Krylon paint and then to go clear it with Krylon Clear and go into shock and heart palpitations as i watch the paint wrinkle and eat away at what art i done after spending hours working on these things even days .......lots and lots of swearing and wanting to through Krylon paint cans
i hope you can fix it, i'm sure you will and it will be one of your best tanks

I know some good Russian Dirty words, but Robert (sevoblast) would make me go to prayers for a week, maybe more, if I used or shared them with you.[8D]

I can sympathize with you on the marker situation as I learned that back in the 90's on lexan car bodies. Now I test everything.
And kudos for divulging that accident to share and so others can learn. Too many times those things are not known just to lead others to disaster.
I enjoyed you taking the time to take pictures along the way as many don't know the pains it is to do so. I wished more did the same instead of encouraging others to show pictures all the time.
I'm sure it will be back on the bench in no time!

I was able to calm down after a short conversation with my good friend Jim Beam. He always calms my nerves after a horrible experience.
Here are photos of what lacquer flat spray did to the Sanford permanent marker I used. I guess I sprayed too much too close or something. This problem didn't run the marker everywhere, just in a few places that I can fix.

Did it make the "92" bubble up as well?

Hey, Eagle Eye
Yeah, it did ....... Dang!!! Does everybody on this forum have a microscope for enlarging photos????? I am going to let the 92 decal stay as is to remind me of the only thing that is going to keep my model out of the "Smithsonian Museum of Magnificent Military Miniature Models". I guess I'm going to have to start doing better work, or go back to using my old camera and taking pictures at a distance of 10 feet. Or in bad light.
I really didn't think anyone would notice that. It's amazing how many things photos reveal .... details that I never really see until I post something and then do that "enlarge" thing. I never thought about doing severe weathering or extensive battle damage and taking photos at dusk and in the fog, but youse guys are giving me ideas.

Hey, 1sgt
As a matter of fact, the way that marker ran down looks like how some of the oil/fuel stains look at the filler caps on a tank after spills and a bit of dust and dirt collects on the spill areas.

I took some new photos and will post them after I find my glasses and approve of the paint repairs that me and my good buddy (JB) did.

To bad it's not what you wanted because it looks pretty cool.
Was the marker dry when you sprayed? Or I wonder if you got a bad mix of paint or if the maker ink and acetone in it started to separate? Probly the latter as it bubbled the numbers. At any rate, very nice modeling.

Yes it was dry but only for about a day. I usually let my paint jobs dry for a couple of days before I spray them with the lacquer flat coat, especially when I use enamel paints. Oh well .... I had another learning experience. I should have tested first.

To all .....
C'est fait et terminé, Or, as they say in my neighborhood, It's done and finished! (FINALLY !!!!)
I tried to copy the paint job on the S35 at Aberdeen as close as I could, just for the fun of it. The French decals I used got donated from a very old Heller 1/72 airplane kit that I never built. I was amazed that the decals were still good and transferred in one piece. The decals are so old that the back of the decal sheet says - printed in France.
I guess China hadn't been invented yet......... The price tag on that box makes me want to cry.
Here's the Aberdeen S 35 that I used for a reference.
