Default Tamiya Kits still the same from years ago?

I was looking at a Tamiya King Tiger tank and looks to have the same stuff, lights, recoils, dmd untit But it says its a 2002 kit. Are there newer ones or if I were to buy a Tamiya king tiger tank new now, would it be the same thing?

Should be the current up to date kit as we all have. I just think he put the date on it so it wouldn't be confused with the earlier kit that wasn't FO.

Just to be sure... what's the kit number?

Tamiya has the mold dates on their plastic. For tanks you find this on the bottoms of their hulls. Aside from minor updates for known issues there should generally be no difference between a 2002 and let's say a 2009 kit.

Exceptions I could think of:

The Tamiya Panther drive sprocket fiasco

Tamiya switching out incandescent light bulbs for LED+fibre optic lighting

The Tamiya Tiger I, King Tiger and Panther seem to share the same DMD T-03 but on my Panther bought a couple of years ago this is marked Ver. 2, which implies that the earlier releases may be Ver. 1.
