Default Jagdpanzer IV Steel Roadwheels

I am looking for a set of these Jagdpanzer IV Steel Roadwheels. I have a Jagdpanzer IV conversion I am working on and need at least four, would like five to have a spare to hang on the tank.

I've been waiting over a year for some vinders to get them back in stock, Good luck. If you do get some and have some extras let me know. I just cast me a set.

Well Baron it sounds like it sucks to be us!!! Ausf if it is Singapore you would think Impact would be making them or at least selling them?[X(]
Asiatam, I thought was making these, but they do not even have them on their site anymore. I found the Photo on Welshdragons site. Oh and by the
way the Brumbar used them as well so you would think there would be a market for them???[]

I do recall someone using either washers or fasteners from a button repair kit on theirs.

It looked convincing enough and was very cheap too so maybe a little scratch building is in order as I have a BRUMMBAR kit too.

I make a trip to Michael's and see what they have in the way of button/snaps, but I am not sure this will give the results we are looking for. I tried searching this forum for a thread about this but didn't come up whit any hits.

Ausf I sent an e-mail to Mitosal about these steel wheels and they replied stating that they would pass it on to Impact and see what they say. They did tell me that Asiatam has most of their parts manufactured in Vietnam. Also they said that Impact tends to focus on Tamiya after market parts as they tend to sell more Tamiya parts then HL after market parts. I replied and let them know that there have been tankers that have used these wheels on their Tamiya Panzer IV's as a conversion base for the Jagdpanzer IV as well. So not sure, maybe something will come out of this.

Has anybody used the Asiatam Steel Road Wheels for the Jagdpanzer IV on a Tamiya Panzer IV lower hull? The reason I ask is that Impact may consider making these if they work on the Tamiya Panzer IV as well.

Unfortunately, I don't have a IV wheel here to play with. Is the hub the same? If so, I don't think it would be too hard at all to build one up on the existing HL wheel, whether it means shaving or reshaping the edges. Casting would be no problem at all.

As a side note, not all of the JPIVs had steel wheels, it was a fix for the front heavy-sinking issue they discovered in the field.

Yes, I am considering scratching one. Jeff you are correct, all the Jagdpanzer IV's had them except for a very few early versions with the L/48 gun.
SOL use to make a resin set as well, but those seem to be gone as well.

I have always liked the Jagdpanzer IV/70(A), and bought the Profiline kit when it came out. I decided that I would mount it on a Pz. IV Tamiya chassis, and used these wheels for the first four roadwheels on each side. These wheels have a 6.5mm hole on the outside and a 5.5mm hole on the inside. I wanted to put the same kind of bearings in them that the Tamiya plastric roadwheels use, which are 4x7x2.5mm bearings. By hand, I carefully reamed out the holes on both inside & outside to where they were close, and used a 7mm drill bit to open them to final size. I held the drill in a drill chuck, and used a collar-stop to keep it from going too deep. It was slow to do - and somewhat painful to do all that twisting with the wheel in one hand and the chuck in the other - but it worked fine. One of them was a little bit too far off center, so I will use that as one of the spares on the rear deck. It would have been MUCH easier with a drill press, but since I do not own one, I managed to do it this way. -Mike

I was once on the hunt for a drill press when I walked into the local Lowes here in town about 5 years ago as they had their Black and Decker "Firestorm" drill press marked down. I managed to get one for around 50 bucks and has paid for itself the first time I used it.

It may be lacking in a few options like the bigger units but it has helped me out several times and that old hand held drilling is a thing in the past now.

Yeah, I bet swinging that huge cannon around added a lot of pressure on the nose of those things.

Remember, I can't remember much, but I bet that was part of the reasoning behind me wanting to go with the 48, besides not wanting premolded zim. Recoil and roadwheels makes sense.

I seem to recall seeing these on Matomart. They do sell Panzer 4 parts and I believe they sell a full set of steel wheels with return rollers. Might be worth a look.

ssrc30, I checked out Matomart. They have the replacement rubber tire metal road wheels for the Panzer IV. nice to be sure, but not the steel rimmed road wheels.

Baron Fel, Asiatam has these in stock even thought they do not list them on there site. If you e-mail them at [email protected] they will respond with a price. I got six, because I wanted spares and it was 13 euro. the shipping is what cost the most. I ended up getting a set of there improved Panzer IV suspension and a set of steel return rollers for the Panzer IV as well. The shipping was the same for all these parts as it would have been for just the six wheels. So you may want to consider getting more then just the road wheels to make the shipping worth more bang for your shipping cost!!! I will post pictures of the parts when I get the chance.

Thanks, So it has not been moved to Fort Lee or the Armor School in Georgia? I thought the Aberdeen collection had all been moved?
