I gotta give credit (or blame) for this project to a group of members of this forum who got me curious about stuff I have seen on their postings about the "World of Tanks" website.

This Panther III is the second project I have done ----- thanks to youse guys and WoT. The first was that "modified object 263 thing" that I did earlier this year. Both projects have been great fun. Now I have two AFVs that no one else has (or would want?).

The nice thing about building "a tank that never was", is that my effort is historically and dimensionally accurate and perfect ............. NOBODY can point to any part of it an claim "that part ain't right", and needs to be corrected. Since it's a WIP there are still some things that need a bit of refinement and cleaning up. I haven't decided what kind of a paint job would be good. What to do with a lot of spare HL track and road wheels really came in handy on this critter.

I say go with a desert tan... to show off the details beter than a dark color would. It looks ugly in a mean way, very cool.

That is to cool i think it would look good in a dark grey or even black color a night fighter if you will.

I will adopt you if you have a 3D printer, (and the time and money) to make stuff that I want to build.

I never think that my builds would be of interest, mainly because I am never very neat about how the interiors of my projects look. I figure ...... if it doesn't show when the paint is dry ...... it doesn't count, so whatever is the easy way to do something is "close enough" for me. Most of my interiors resemble a train wreck. The least embarrassing thing I can do is post photos of the project when the glue and green stuff are dry.

I did take one photo of a very simple suspension idea that was a cheap shot at doing a basic working suspension. It's partially done, but it gives you a clue of where I was going with it. Nothing heavy duty, I don't build anything for taking a lot of wear and tear on the battle field.

The thing that appealed to me about this tank was that there were no round or contoured curves to it ..... like there are on a cast turret.. Everything could be done with flat styrene. No latex molds had to be made for resin casting.The top deck is just a flat piece of thick styrene. The rear engine area and the front glacis were simple spare parts and the turret sides were covered with flexible styrene sheeting after I made a stick frame on a top and bottom outline shape and glued them together at the proper height distance from each other. It's done for now, so I posted it. I still have some details to do, but they won't show. It still needs a circuit board and turret rotation gear, but that's all it will get, except for a paint job and a place on the shelf.

I really like the North Africa desert paint and have a dozen AFVs in that color scheme. If I do one more in desert yellow or Africa mustard I will need to move to Phoenix (my old home town) and apply for membership in DAK.

Black is an interesting suggestion, but I would favor a dark grey, maybe with white winter camo splotches applied with a broom and mop. I don't have a with a tank with an expedient winter paint scheme.

Yeah ---- right ---- easy for you to say.

The examples of your paint jobs that you have posted so far inspire me, but I have trouble painting a wall in my house with a roller. Airbrushing a tank is something I'm not good at, I have collected five airbrushes, but rarely try to use them. I'm a paint brush person, but I'm gonna give it another try. When it comes to cam paint jobs they have the best ..... I think I could do this .....

I borrowed 3D glasses from the kid next door.. Taking pictures from the barrel end of a tank is very impressive in 3D.....!!!!
I am honored that you used something I built to demonstrate the effect of 3D. Everything I see looks like your photo until I put my prescription glasses on. Anything that makes my stuff look better is appreciated. Amazon has a jillion 3D glasses for sale.

I feel like this is my 15 minutes of fame and I have been immortalized in the annals of Old Guys Who Build Stuff. I haven't seen any 3D stuff since a few movies in the 1950s.
