Default IS-2 / IS-3 Alloy wheels by DKLM-rc

Hey all,

Just wanted to let anyone in the mood to toss some well made wheels onto their heavy Russian tanks, the fellas (mostly Carson) @ http://www.dklmrc.com/ have been very helpful & accommodating in arranging some wheel sets for these tanks.

The price is a tad more than I'm used to but these are top notch... added bonus the 4mm axles will fit directly to the Taigen KV-1 metal hull which is a possible base for IS-3 conversion kit... just ask about a IS-3 wheels!

Look really nice, but $250? That is 1/3 or half the price of a Tamiya kit or Taigen T-34/85 full metal tank.

Thumbs up

That's about the going rate on GOOD aftermarket metal wheels.

If it's too much then hold out and see if Mato or Asiatam makes them?

I'll need them soon.

Hi Guys,

Wheels are made by casting in steel.
They are not zinc alloy.

Steel? That's impressive, overkill for a 1/16 model but impressive nonetheless...

Wow, I guess the price is good if they are cast steel.

Oh for gawds sake! It's not overkill at all. It's an unladen addition to the total weight of the tank which means it WILL add to it's total mass but will not burden the tanks suspension like other accessories will.

And tracks are one of them. They partially add to the suspensions task AND to the total mass of the tank.

I would get into curb weight and gross vehicle weight definitions but I will save that for another time.

I hope to soon get a set of these super sweet wheels for my project!

it wasn't the weight I was thinking about. A zinc alloy wheel would be
a hefty wheel as well but possibly less expensive.

I personally like the steel idea, I'll likely buy them also...

Caron @ DKLM included a M1 driver with the set I ordered for the IS-3... but I'm not sure if that's because I'm such a nice guy or if it's always included
