Default PAYPAL question?

Let me ask, Is paypal important to you? what I am asking is how important is the use of paypal is in your purchases.
All credit cards now offer purchase protection etc same as paypal when you buy things from North America
so is paypal an important thing for you guys.
I don't know how many of you know but paypal is expensive to a vendor. Thing is, the payment part of any business is more dictated by comfort, convenience and security than anything else.
So I am asking you guys for your opinions. Is using paypal important or do you prefer credit cards?

I rely on Pay Pal for all of my online purchases. I will not use my credit cards online again.

I only use Paypal, most secure and best way to keep your credit card numbers out of everyone else's database.

If a shop doesn't take Paypal I won't buy.,

The use of a credit card is equally as expensive to a vendor. Using PP backed with a credit card gives you almost 100% protection. There's a reason PP is so popular. Vendors don't have to use them, but at this point I think that's a mistake.

Although I understand your concern about costs, to be having paypal is a must nowadays.
Not having paypal means to lose half or more of the USA potential buyers and almost all overseas…etc.

I'm sure CCs have come down in response, but PP was a godsend to startup businesses. I would have nevr dreamed of starting one under the conditions Visa and MC wanted.

And now with the card reader for phones, etc. it's Paypal all the way. 3% is not that much of a hit and you get a lot of service for it. Just the group postage discount alone is worth it. Especially for international sales. I used to have to go through Westen Union. Yikes, that was always terror-filled.

Paypal all the way. Easily 90% or more of my RC purchases are through PP, not to mention things like iTunes and so forth. Years ago PP had some problems and left a bad taste to their image. During those years they've worked hard to correct those problems and win back business. They used to be a bit long in the tooth when it came to moving the money around, but that's got a lot better too. Secure, and it just works. Customer service is very responsive if have a problem. Yes, they're definitely important in regards to my online purchases.

I usually use paypal. The only time I make exception to that is when shopping at a large corporate website such as Amazon.

More than once I've chosen one vendor over another because they take paypal even if there's a slight cost difference.

...granted one of those times was because I was too lazy to run downstairs for my mastercard :P

I try to use my credit card whenever possible. Main reason is points. I get double points on one of my Cap 1 cards for anything purchased so it's a no brainer. I do take paypal for my online business and it easily outpaces anything else but a lot of that business comes from Ebay.

I am quite sure that vendors figure into their pricing credit card expenses or PayPal expenses. Many vendors these days state right up front an extra 3% for credit card purchases. I have yet to hear any vendors crying over their credit card or PayPal sales. Yes, I will use PayPal for just about every purchase I make, thus you can say, it is important to me !

A great many of use debit/bank cards instead of credit cards. This look like credit cards and are processed like them but you don't get the same protections. I use PayPal for online purchase and have PayPal use my debit card.
BTW, I restrict my selling on eBay now because they will not let a seller grade a buyer, other than perfect. That is absurd - you can't warn other sellers about a buyer that shafts you for shipping charges or PayPal charges. I sold an item earlier this year for around $10 and wound up making absolutely nothing on it because I used the eBay shipping charges estimator and event though the ad specifically stated the buyer pays shipping charges he refused to send the difference. And I had already sent it to him.
