Fall 2015 AAF TANK MUSUEM DANVILLE BATTLE WEEKEND NOV 6TH TO 8TH
Top 10 Reasons YOU should be there!
Hi Guys,
The leaves are changing color, the nights are becoming colder and the days are getting shorter.....
Yet none of this will effect the next AAF Tank Mus. RC tank battle-weekend in Danville VA on November 6th thru 8th (Friday thru Sunday). Why?
** Reason # 10: Because it is all indoors. We control the lighting the smoke and are secure and comfortable inside.
The AAF Tank Mus. has the only tank battlefield of its kind and it remains consistantly the best in the world. All of the countless hours of labor poured into the field by dedicated local volunteers (mainly form the HEAT Club) are protected from the harmful effects of rain sun, flood, wind and snow. This is possible only through the generosity of the Gasser family at the Tank Museum. They have provided the facilities that so many RC tankers have enjoyed all these years. Bill and Karen frequently stop by to make sure all is well and that we are enjoying the battlefield. You are all invited to attend one of these epic tank battle-weekends. For three days and two nights you are welcome to join us and we have fun like "a kid in a candy store". To see what we are all about here is a high quality video from Steve in FLA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP0NEYg0VOY
Please feel free to post any questions you may have regarding this event. The North East Armored Division (NEAD) is hosting this event and we want to make sure you have a great time. I have an extensive post here on RCU that may answer many Danville questions. Please use it as a reference guide: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10439467/tm.htm
Bob Held, NEAD CO
PS For those attending please sound off here with who is coming with you and what tanks you are bringing (pix welcome too). Don't for get we buy sell & trade tanks there too. Tables are free for your for sale items.

Hey Bob!
Bossman and I will be attending this one. I will be bringing my Panther F, Panther G, and probably two Tiger 1 tanks. I'll make sure and bring up one of the new mid version airsoft barrel recoil tanks too for everyone to see. I might even be able to steal a few 72nd scale IR tanks to bring up too if all goes well.

We are all looking forward to IMEX attending the Fall Danville Battle weekend Erik. You, your customers and the Danville gang are finally going to able to put faces to the names and forum posts after all these years. I will have a IR battle tank reserved for you and Bill to use at your pleasure for the weekend. You will get many hours or "Trigger Time" playing in our sandbox. I'm sure there will be a dozen or so Taigen tanks outfitted with Tamiya IR on hand too. Bring your camera and I'm sure you will blown away with the level of creativity you will see there. The variety of tanks just amazes me.

I am probably going to go with a friend again (need to get some final detail finalized...). Would just be bringing my stug again, haven't worked on my tanks really since last time lol, procrastination is my specialty. At least it will be configured right this time. (Is that apple shortage still going on though? I cant find one in stock anywhere except asia and the shipping times aren't going to be good enough for this)

I see it is about a 3 hour drive for you from SC Purgatory. It is not always a easy trip so I understand your postion. Being a 3 day and 2 night event helps to make the longer trip to the AAF Tank Mus. worthwhile. We have many Danville regulars who driver 5+ hours. Some share the trip with friend, family member or fellow tanker from their state. I flew in from NJ the first few times as have RC tankers form DAK, SoCal, Texas Armor Club & Singapore,...we have had train & bus guests too. We can arrange pick-up too sometimes from the terminals. We share hotel rooms often as well. Please don't hesitate to PM me for assistance. We love to help.

Here are a few pix from previous battles of the Danville Gang helping out their fellow tankers.

I drove all the way down from Detroit Michigan in April 2011 to make a battle day. My only regret from that weekend was that I hadn't gone sooner.
Anyone that doesn't make at least one friend at the event needs to re-examine their life choices. So many good people, so little time to make friends.
Even if "playing laser tag with toy tanks" isn't your deal, you need to go there once, see the museum and meet the people.

He and I both noticed some odd behavior from you lately pal. Many tankers are concerned for your well being.
We had a meeting to discuss your antics.
We brought in experts well qualified to detect "Odd Behavior"
Here is photographic proof from your recent mishaps. Scaring the girl tankers.
Trying to jump over other thank and yelling "King Me" like a checkers game???
The doc says that if you agree to let him battle with your X 7 Jagdtiger
He will write you a prescription for a therapeutic RC tank treatment at Danville to submit to your wife.

READ THIS.... I hear this at almost every Danville event.
This remorse is preventable. Stop saying maybe next year and come in November. It may never get cheaper...gas & hotels are VERY low right now.
Thanks for you comments Martin. I hope you can make it back over the pond sometime soon.

Hi Bob, Thank you for the invite, but I am still a 3 day plus drive and 2500 miles away, so not this year. I'll have to be happy knowing a few of my builds will be there though and watch out for Daryl with the Tamiya Pz4J. John
And do be on alert for Dr. James Williams running either Axis or Allied, though he has other fine tanks to select from in his collection:

I'll get by there one day, living just over an hour away. May have to work all 3 days of the event. Won't know I had a day off until it's over the way my job works. Most likely I'll pass through Danville at least once on one of the days of the event with work but won't be able to stop. Even though I don't mess with IR, I will do this one day though as I would like to check out other people tanks.
