Default Zrinyi I and II

Was it Eric ( Heavyaslead ) who built the Zrinyi I ( it's your avatar, no )?

That was that a 100% scratch model right. The other day that machine just bubbled up in my mind and I started to look around for your build thread but no cigar for some reason...

It was an interesting machine I've been looking into. I see that Friulmodel still offers 1/16 scale tracks but I suspect theirs are a soft alloy.

Yes Jerry, it is mine. I modeled the prototype Zrinyi I 44M with the 75mm anti-tank gun.

The Fruil tracks are mislabeled, checked some years ago, its really 1/35th scale.

For the heck of it I sent off to Fruilmodel for their Zrinyi tracks and here is what I received( and they were VERY quick about it).

They appear to be made of the same soft metal ( lead? pewter ( expensive)? lead/pewter?? ??? ) so they aren't really appropriate for RC
as I suspected but again as other Fruilmodel items I've seen they are nicely executed...

Well let's see. According to the data I have the full size track was 420mm wide so 420/16 = 26.25mm which is a bit over 1" wide ( 1.03")

The a random untouched link measured 1.1" wide which is larger than a true 1/16; I'm sure a bit of filing on the edges to remove flash would probably reduce that to be very close to the proper width.

On the whole not a bad looking link...
