I have a question if they now don't want it back I'm going to play with it my question is do the wrong components affect its ability to to send out an IR fire signal and will the apple work I've read were the Led lighting wont work but no one has said anything about if the IR works or not and if the flash works or not .
Thanks

The MOSFET issue breaks the following:
  • All light outputs (Aux, Light 1, Light 2, Brake, and Machine Gun light)
  • IR transmission
  • Hit notification lights on the Apple
  • Mechanical recoil/airsoft units
What remains that does work is basically driving and turret controls, sound control (through an external sound card), smoker, high intensity flash, servo recoil, and other esoteric functions.

That's a bummer on no IR transmission or hit lights on Apple . But can still play with it for when the good once do come out after looking at board them components are to small for me to replace myself with the correct once .

Hi Luke,

Just to let you know that I got an email from R. Eulogio of HK saying that my payment has been refunded to me. I checked my Store credit in HK and it has been reversed and a refund was issued. I also checked Paypal and it was indeed returned by HK. Although I didn't request a refund, it looks like they are refunding the payment regardless of whether you requested a refund or not which I didn't. Either way, thanks for your following up with HK regarding this issue inspite of all the grief it has given you.

Lotuswins is Jerry fixing them for others .
I would be interested if he is to get a fully working TCB I would order the replacment parts and send it all to him and pay shipping both ways and for his work .
Thanks

Thank you everybody for your updates today that were posted here or sent to me privately. It would seem we have managed to get HK's attention for real, and after weeks of insisting everything is already taken care of and what is our big problem? - they are now finally getting around to addressing the problem. Much else could I say about this experience, but perhaps the sooner forgotten the better...

If there remains anyone with issues with their return, do please contact me.

Jimmy, Lotuswins is Jerry. He offered to send me his board, I don't believe he is offering to do repairs, nor has anyone else that I am aware of. For the record, neither am I. It would not be worth my time or effort to fix boards and deal with all the complications that might entail. But if someone else does want to, by all means!

Just a quick notes that HK has refunded my purchase in full. Thanks HK and Luke!

Now, I guess I await the release of the correct TCBs......

Hobby King has indeed said they intend to manufacture a new set of TCBs using the correct components. They have given me no ETA, and even if they had I would not know what to think about it, since all the estimates given earlier this year were inaccurate.

I should point out that what Hobby King says and what Hobby King does have not always been the same thing. So I am only reporting what they have told me, not what I know for certain. For now I am taking a wait-and-see approach.

I'll second this - those boards look ideal for gun emplacements at that price point. I almost took the leap a day or 2 before this all came off the rails, and I'm still hopeful that it all works out.

Maybe be we can produce it for you, a hardware board without software like TCB may just cost $20 for each to produce here for initial batch, less than $14 for following batch, and more than 1000pcs can be produced in 1 weeks.

Regards,
Clark

I would like to make a counter suggestion: Why not take this opportunity to look at possibly LUKE and the OPENPANZER group investigating the next step....TCB with OSS integration and work with Clark on that venue....TCB2. Let HK putter along on TCB1.....

It's an idea that may allow us to apply the OP project to a wider venue and actually be better for all of us in the long run......

After though......

Maybe Luke could also talk to Clark about production of the Scout as well?

I have no problem with Clark Models making the OP products as long as they adhere to the OPEN SOURCE design and can execute the products cost effectively and with good quality control.

And, we may even then be able to look at moving the use of OP into RC tank productions from the respective manufacturers??????

The last may be a stretch at this point.

But, I would really rather see us take a step forward if we go with an effort from Clark as while the TCB1 is a great initial step, I think Clark has the experience and know-how to take a LARGER step and give us the sound component as well. And, I think they can most likely even provide the SCOUT too! Although, i still feel the Speed Controller should remain seperate for scale-ability.

I agree with Springman. I like the idea of having the ESCs off board. It allows people to experiment with brushed, brushless, and large motors for larger tanks (IE: 1/6th). My plans for this board were for use with my existing ESCs in my larger tanks.

Clark, before you get people too excited, I want to confirm - you are offering to invest $14,000 - $20,000 of your own money into the Open Panzer project?

Luke, I do not think an initial production should be 1000 or more units. i am thinking the initial production should be 100 to possibly 500 units - but if they are going to be making just a TCB1 version...no more than 250 units..... And, I doubt HK made such a commitment either... I think HKs $55.00 price was based on a 100 to 250 unit run.....

I don't think that at ALL! I think ClarkModels is demonstrating manufacturing costs, not asking for money up front..... Have they asked for money....NO, not at all! They are simply extending an invitation to discuss the possibility of them helping us out and contributing to the OP Project effort. And I think it is great that they offered. But, if you want to disregard or just blow it off....then lets stay the course and close that door....and, lets see where we are on this in six months.....

ClarkModels inquiry may lead to something or it may go nowhere....but, to blow it off without exploration make me wonder and consider if the project really is taken with the seriousness it needs to make it?

Sorry to rant, but I really would like to see something good come from this latest setback......And, I think OP is great concept and very much worth our serious efforts and considerations.

Let's wait for Clark's response. I am not blowing off any serious offer of cooperation - but I do want to understand precisely what Clark is offering, if anything.

Understood. However, I suggest PMing ClarkModels and taking that discussion "Off Forum". And then you can simply report back when a better understanding is achieved.
I just think that would be better than some extended thread in the Forum that would encounter mine and everyone-elses interjections........

Just a thought,

Springman
