Default Panzer iv gearboxes/motor

Hi , so I am underway on my Jagdpanzer resin kit , so far it's going well, however I noticed the stock HL motors are in the way of the gun. Can anyone recommend a set that would sit lower in the hull allowing for the gun recoil etc?
cheers
Mark

What have you got in there now, Mid/Low "3:1"?

I have the dual ratio GBs with steel gears in my P3 and they work well in a small tank. I think you can get them at rctank.de but if not let me know, I have a spare set on the shelf.

You can fit Taigen 5:1 gearboxes. They are a low/low profile and about 46 to 1 final drive ratio.
I used them in my HL Panzer iv Wirbelwind conversion.

Those are the gearboxes I'm talking about, but I call them dual ratio. "5:1" is just a made-up number that really doesn't mean anything and has no correlation to the actual gear ratios of the gearbox. I have several sets of those gear boxes with brass gears and in my opinion those are the best gear boxes currently available, but of course they're out of production, so the steel ones aren't bad as long as it's a light tank. Don't try to put them in an all metal King Tiger because they don't have the guts, but for a small tank like a Panzer 3, or Panzer 4, they work just fine.

In my Panzer 3 I have them running on 380 Motors, but I'm not sure if you can squeeze those into a panzer four. If you have to use 360 Motors because of space considerations I would recommend the 360s that come with those water pumps. They have much more power than the stock 360 Motors that come with the gear boxes. I've done a couple of videos comparing the stock 380 and the water pump 360 motors on my YouTube channel.

those look like they will do the trick. I'm not sure what's in it now, but the motors are right in front of the gun hole.
will check out the taigen site. Cheers fellas

In the PzIV you have to use the stock motors on those gearboxes. I tried 380s or something that size and they won't fit. The PzIV hull is a few millimeter narrower than the PzIII hull. As a result, the gearboxes are literally side-by-side with almost no space between them.

Hi,
here is my panzer iv hull with 5:1's and the stock 360's. You can see, as philipat said-
the gearboxes are literally side-by-side with almost no space between them.

Mark, if you decide to go with the dual ratio send me a PM. I have a set here (I have both long and short shafts for it) and I also have a set of the more powerful 360 motors from the water-pumps.
