New tamiya rc m551 sheridan
#126

Well, I am not sure if you are being ironic here or not, lol. But yes, look at what people is building, this video is not mine:
This is 1.32 but you will get the idea.
A lot of people makes them even able to fly, and with lights, sounds... A lot of scratchbuilding and a very enjoyable build. And it is a great addon for our tanks, spices the battlefield a bit

Not seen the mounted TBU, but if capable, that is how I will build it. May post build photos on Facebook and rcu, but might not be the first out the gate. tch2000, I understand the dedication it takes to be a care giver for a parent(s). Your a good guy!

Sorry I got off topic. 👍🏽

Sheridan TBU Update: emailed Tamiya USA yesterday and they relied today, they do not know yet if the Sheridan rc kit is Battle Unit compatible. Hang in there tch2000, for sure shared experiences.

While browsing the hobby show pictures from Tamiya's Japan website I saw a (tentative) static model of the M551 and it included some exciting details that, if they do not some with the RC version should be able to be ordered (I HOPE)

Most .50 Cal MGs sound the same, as for the main gun I have no idea but it sounds good to me, the turret traverse sounds nice but I can make out engine sounds, however Tamiya always records the engine sounds from an actual specimen of the tank they are making as far as I am aware.

Lol, sorry to disappoint you, guys, but I am not going to get the Sheridan... First because honestly I dont like it, and second because I dont think I will have more tanks ever. I already have a small platoon and I want to focus in my battlefield now, with buildings, lights, sounds, explosions, fountains with water, bridges and so on. I also discovered the world of 1/16 balsa warbirds and I am loving it.
But I will follow somebody else`s build log, I am curious!

Whatever floats the builder's boat. Never having seen a full sized Sheridan up close ( except Littlefield's) with that screen contraption I wouldn't really know what sort of fasteners it had or if it was just welded. Perhaps they used Holt Head bolts..

The screen contraption was mounted to keep RPG rounds off the drivers face etc and the frame may have been either welded or Holt head bolts were used. Not a lot of Sheridan photo reference online, hard to tell. Some of the screen contractions did not use a frame. So, will need to go to books for better photo detail.
Though, might base my model’s paint on Mr Littlefield’s Sheridan.

All I know is that our Sheridan at the Fort Snelling Museum smoked like a SOB whenever we ran it. Worse than the one from the video. It was a diesel power plant and probably had diesel in it from the Vietnam War era...
I remember we pumped out 45 gallons of diesel out of one of our Shermans that had been in there God only knows how long, ran it through a makeshift fuel filter/water separator, and put it back in the Sherman. Sure enough it ran on it. The Sheridan is a cool vehicle in my opinion. I do hope they get the sound of the engine right.

If I were building a Sheridan, I would be replacing the electronics for sure.
As many of you guys know, I love to have as many sounds, options and lights as possible. I am currently working in 3 sound sets (that will be free available for everybody soon) Radial Sherman, King Tiger and another tank not yet revealed, but for example what I can tell you is with the king tiger, I have a user sound bank where I play tank commander voices at my will. I deep tested it with colleagues and family and is quite fun. I can direct the entire platoon, because the tank commander keeps giving the orders at my will like "turn right" "Left" "fowards" "attack!" and whatever you can imagine, triggered depending of the switch/button you press in the radio. I also added more sounds like air raid attacks, radio chatters, artillery strikes and more, so it is kinda fun, at least for me. If I get bored of the sounds, I can replace them in seconds.
And, of course, for so many options you need a minimum of 8 channel radio, 16 ch recommended.
If you or anybody is interested on the sounds, I will give them for free. First sound set should be ready in about two weeks.

Interesting rc stuff. Any rc tank visual proof?
And dude, no fight from me.
You started matters and just took offense that I did not need or want your useless advice and help, free or not, on resolving past Tamiya Abrams' kit new release issues.
So this means for sure you are not assembling a Tamiya Sheridan?

Regarding my "useless advice and help" well, I have seen a colleague having an issue, and I wanted to help him. I would be glad if somebody tries to help me if I had any issue.
And no, 100% I wont be assembling a sheridan. as I said, main reason is I dont like it, and second I have my tank park full.
