John is there any reason why you did your vision blocks in blue or does it really make no difference ?

The real thing has this funny, iridescent kinda armored glass and it has a kind of rainbow effect, depending on the angle you're looking at it. A lot of guys have come up with a lot of methods for replicating that effect, some more successfully than others. My attempt wasn't too bad, but time consuming and complicated. Had to order special film for the project. In fact, I have some left over, if you need it I could send it to you. No charge. IF, that is, I can find it. I'm pretty sure I know where it is, but with me ya never know.

The 2003 Operation Iraqi Freedom Abrams Tank my model represents did not use the red visions blocks. They came later after laser attacks on the crews required a solution. That is my understanding from my build research, though I don’t know where I found that information, now, almost 3 years later. Tip: Spec Ops makes a small Abrams red vision block sticker sheet that I used for the sold build 2 Abrams; find the Spec Ops red stickers on Facebook. Or use “translucent“ Tamiya blue or red air brush paint for the vision blocks. I used the Tamiya blue translucent paint on my keeper Abrams.

In fact, here's how I did it.

And I discovered a flaw at youtube, I couldn't find that video just scrolling through, it wouldn't let me go back that far, so I clicked on "sort by" and set it to show the oldest video first. Then, and only then, can you see ALL of the posted videos. So if you want to hunt up the rest of my Abrams videos you should start with the oldest and scroll down (kind of a long ways, till you get to videos that are three or four years old, that's where the Abrams stuff is) and there are at least four or five covering different stuff, but again, this is the HL so I don't know how valuable the info will be when building the Tamiya kit.

Hi, cool video, works for either HL or Tamiya Abrams builds. Have modeled both. John

HL Abrams, modeled several years prior to the Tamiya Abrams

Using dirty blue vision blocks, though not all installed in this photo.

I use this as the all purpose airbrush get good results all the ability to control the flow of paint with air mixture adjuster at front extra bonus function.
not cleaning it properly last time i used Opppps.
,

Prep for spruce painting

Now cleaning and set up for action I use silicon grease seals up nicely on threads no air leaks and protects o rings and lastly easier to brake disassemble for cleaning.

Showing one option you can really sit down and talk about other brands to me i can not speak for the guys above just my opinion i would be interested in Henglong , Taigen , and current Tamiya every aspect of this hobby is about getting together sharing information and your imagination has no limits that you have the ability to build a rc tank if you like ? or purchase a ready run rc tank and rebuild them to get amazing results.
Personalization with improvements in sound and movement , learning electronics , programming inputs into transmitters , learning about recievers 4ch , 10ch requirements needed having extra channels to basically do more things eg extra machine guns , Lights .
