If it is a new Tank you should contact the dealer and ask for a serviceable replacement because if you open it up and still cannot get it working you will have invalidated the guarantee.

Most likely it is the 2 wire cable that comes from your turret is not placed in the correct port or came out. The 2 wire cable controls both the recoil and the cannon sound. Check the attached picture and check for slot "E" on your motherboard and insert it as shown. If that doesn't fix it, hit us up on the website and we will take a look for you. Please be aware we are swamped atm and it might take us a bit to respond but most likely that is your issue there as both of those functions are on one cable.

Great Diagram, thank you
it’s a single black wire with nothing on the end
everything works fine apart from the firing and recoil

That my friend is your IR ground cable. You should have either two options to connect that depending on the distributor as sometimes we (IMEX) request special things like different power cables.
  1. Check your main power cable. At the actual main power switch you should see a red and black cable heading to your motherboard. There might also be a single cable hanging off the power switch, that is connected to the IR turret's ground which allows the firing unit to work. You can compare which cable you have here: https://www.taigentanks.com/products...35669598634151
  2. Depending on what configuration it came in you might also have that single cable coming from the back of your motherboard. If the tank was in the stock form an IR tank from the factory then TG tends to solder that cable directly on the back of the MB where the power cables are. The effect is the same, just the placement of the cable.
We (IMEX) sell the power cable with the connector on the switch as it is easier to replace, fix, and hide if you are doing IR/BB turret swaps often. If you do not have that cable on your tank it is possible either the MB was replaced with one that didn't have that cable soldered to it or the power switch may have been replaced. You can also just solder a wire to the ground on the on/off switch and run it that way but we do have a cheap one at the link above if you don't like to solder. Hopefully that is the issue, if you don't have that ground cable hooked up the IR firing unit doesn't work at all but the airsoft is wired a bit different and doesn't require an extra ground.
