New M4A3E8 1/16 Static kit from Andy's HHQ/Takom coming out soon

WOW! This is great news.

If the hull and turret have such details as in the renderings, it will be a great donor for modifications. I hope Andy will release more models in 1/16, maybe an early Sherman? Or Firefly?

Andy said he has even more "BIG" news coming next week, not sure what it will be but maybe other 1/16 Sherman variants, his favorite models are normally armor kits.

I will wait to se what you guys think. I’ve got enough projects and already have a few e8s done or in process.
Really though, I don’t see this suspension on a styrene kit being durable enough to really use much. Get a Tamiya chassis. Then get a taigen upper half and build an e8. Converting a styrene kit will be so much work.

Okay, Mister Pitstain, if you'll forgive a quick hi-jack, I've been meaning to ask you for quite a while about that screen name of yours. The stain part is pretty easy to figure out, but what kind of pit are we talking about? The kind under your arm, or the kind you pull into to refuel during the race? I supposed the stain under the arm thing might be a little embarrassing, but being a stain on a pit Lane is usually fatal. Something tells me there's a story behind that name and I'd really like to hear it. And in case you're wondering, mine is pretty easy, I had a good friend who had a dog named Zeus, Zeus's father is Cronos, and Cronos's brother is Crius. We made some kind of joke about me being the Dog's uncle, so that's how we came up with that one.
Happy Monday to all, Friday will be here before you know it. At least I hope so.

I'm surprised it took this long for someone to ask the question.
You sorta guessed it but there is a bit of nuance.
I was pitting for a friend who was in the 1/10 Nitro A-main race at the HPI Challenge MANY years ago, he was running stinkin rich on his carb and rolled into the pits for a fuel top-off, due to his carb settings he had to constantly rev the throttle to keep the engine running and while refueling his car I was generously sprayed with 2 stroke oil laden exhaust to the point I looked the like the bottom of a pepperoni pizza box when he exited the pit on his way to a podium finish.
When asked how he felt about his trophy winning race he said I couldn't have done it without my "Pit-Stain" over there.....coincidentally it was also 90+ degrees out and i was on the blacktop with no shade so I was also profusely sweating.
there you have it, Pitstain, short for "oil soaked pit crew"
Cheers,
Ian

I knew there was a story behind that name.
Thanks for sharing that, I'm not sure why but I've always been interested in how folks choose their screen names and yours is one of the more interesting stories.

That is funny how that happens. I as well figured Pitstain had to have something to do with race cars.
I have a whole group of people that named me "Cracker" for a very long time. Not because I was a racist white boy from down south, no, so much more exulted a name was it.
In the Army there is a challenge that started with Airborne Rangers that they would get some lowly Private or Specialist and challenge them to eat both MRE crackers at the same time in under a couple minutes. Me being green had no idea of this challenge and I fell for it hook, line and sinker. The event was quite hilarious as I looked like a chipmunk with my cheeks puffed out full of partially chewed cracker and no moisture at all left in my mouth. I reached for my canteen and this sergeant shouts dont let him get his canteen and it was snagged from my reach and I started to laugh as cracker power puffed out my mouth. But.... I was able to just barely chew them and get them swallowed in the time frame and present an open empty mouth. I succeeded though my mouth was tore up something awful. From then on by everyone that knew I was called cracker. As years went by it became SGT Cracker and the name slowly dwindled as no one lower in rank dare use the moniker. Eventually it faded but every once in a while, I still hear from somebody that cant help use the name SGT Cracker. Its endearing and I do miss it. The times we have that create endearing monikers and the people we shared it with are things we cherish forever. There were a few times we had to explain my "callsign" to other superior people too. That was always fun.... especially when someone used it on an unsecured radio transmission.....
Sorry for hijacking the thread further but that brought up a memory from long ago I thought yall would get a kick out of.

Tank riders 1/16th set released as companion set to the Sherman M4A3E8 - https://armorama.com/news/u-s--m4a3e...an-tank-riders -
Very nice looking, but probably fairly expensive like the Panther tank riders previously released.

Looks to be a great model. I'll be getting one for sure. Great reference for those building a bigger version of the E8. Coupled with Jeff Shiu's figures will be really nice display. I think Andy's is "right on track" with this release.

Nice! I should see mine today or Monday. Plan to graft it on a unbuilt Tamiya chassis with Pershing sound.

Wow its out already? that was fast.
I have just about run out of tamiya chassis. Ive got one that is missing some parts and thats about it. But I dont have the time to build this thing and make it into an rc model at this point. Ive got too many other things going on.
But what do you guys think of the turret and how hard it will be to convert it to full RC? Any easier than Nick Aguilars turret?
I still have an E8 mocked up with nicks turret that is not moved past half built in a long time.
