Itís about darn time.
Though itís still the wrong color, It should be a grey green color. They start out a darker color and fade to a grey color so somewhere in that spectrum.
I mailed Tamiya khaki and light grey in varying amounts get colors that match various ages of faded tanks.

It's like two years over due from when HL announced it. Hoping this time it will actually become available.

It's funny that a couple of years ago there were no Merkava tanks in 1/16 and now there are tons. Hooben makes one, Inkor has one to print, Sol models has a resin kit, Inkor is making a MK3 version, and I saw a metal one at some point. Now HL will enter the mix. More ironic is that the release of the HL version will be the one to make it a mainstream tank.

Well, not really. The MK4 is old at this point. Itís now only in use by reserves and training crews. Only the 4M with Trophy APS is a front line active duty tank. MK5 is being built now which is supposedly a 4M that is redesigned around the Trophy system with other upgrades.
The 4M is really a 4 with Trophy integrated during construction, not upgraded. IThe M also has a loader hatch.
Not much more is known about mk5 at this point. Israel is protective of its opsec.
So at this point the mk4 henglong is making is 20 years old and relegated to reserve service.
The older mk3 series are retired in storage in case of need.

pretty sure he means mainstream as in it will be a more common product that will see more "mainstream" adoption then a hobben product or kit build.

Yeah, I was referring to the 1/16 scale world and not the real world. The Merkava wouldn't be a mainstream MBT like the Leo no matter what as I don't believe the Israelis have the manufacturing capability to produce mass exports of the vehicle.

I have to say, it looks like Heng Long upped their game with this release - out the box, it already comes with photo-etched parts, metal suspension arms, and torsion bar suspension. Also, it looks like a new feature to have a top loading battery compartment, and screws mounted on the upper hull, with the rear ones actually concealed by two plastic caps.

Edit: However, it is surprising that they went to the effort of using torsion bar suspension when the real tank uses coil springs which are mounted on the side of the hull......

I don't think Hooben will sell many more Merkavas after this......

You missed the best part, the new track tension adjustment system.

Oh yes, the tensioner system. And once hobbyists get their hands on it and give it a better paintjob and weathering, it should come alive just like the Tongde M60.

Yeah ebay isn't worth looking at right now, toucan has it on their site and aliexpress. Aliexpress is 289CAD plus 201 shipping. That's 361 USD shipped to your door. Way cheaper then the 400+ before shipping in seeing on eBay.

Motion RC tends to have free shipping on tanks so I think I'll wait till they get theirs in stock, but it will probably be like 6 months down the road. I'm OK with that though.

Iím thinking the same. I had an active search setup on eBay for it, mainly just to give me a heads-up when some vendors had it in stock. When I got an eBay message the HL Merkava was now showing up on listings, I sent a message off to MotionRC about it. Iíve been satisfied in my past dealings with them, with decent prices and service. Iíve got enough RC stuff on my plate for now. I can wait on the Merkava.

I checked out that site and the shipping is $133.00. I'll wait for them to show up here in the states.

Jeff, that's for expedited shipping. They'll ship a King Tiger for $35 so if it was me I think I would contact them and find out if I can get that price on the merkava.

Oh I know that Gary, and thanks but at this point Toucan Hobby on eBay will have them shortly as they reported. Besides, they may not want to ship it any other way right now.

I was really impressed with the 'creature features' on this offer from Heng Long. The PE, the adjustable idler and other bonuses the model has. They have over the years raised the playing field and have some pretty good options.

Heh, heh, heh. Yes, indeed. Patience is a virtue. I really like the detail on this model. Also, the Merkava is rather unique looking, in of itself.
