Have you made an indoor or outdoor battle field to play with your tanks on? With hull down positions and roads and obstacles and stuff. If so, please share some pics with us.

I'm toying with the idea of making an indoor miniature field of battle for my 1/24 and 1/55 rc tanks, and I would like to get some ideas here hopefully.

Well i made a 1/35 model platform (never finished it) it shows a German supply camp it has one Panther, one Tiger and one Tiger II,and two AA tanks,i was planning on putting 2 Panzer`s and some tents on the platform, and i was also planing to make that destroyed building (Little gray thing in the middle of map) 3-4 times bigger since that was the place where all the supplies are at.And on each corner is a small "outpost" 3 MG outposts and 1 Medic post.

Thats it?? One reply?
So, we all just fart around in a plain ole, average ,run of the mill , backyard????
No mud holes,obsticles,water traps.........
OK ,I admit it too.......my wife would kill me if a made the back yard "the way I want it"[]
I would have mud holes,roads,water....the whole 9 yards.
Man ,I wish

Haven't got a backyard battlefield myself but here's one indoors that I like:

http://www.aaftankmuseum.com/Battlefield0204.htm

Love how big they were able to make it. Looks like a real working river too. Something that I would definitely aspire to. I wouldn't hesitate to put in real tank-killing obstacles too, like a river or sizeable bodies of water deep enough to flood a tank, bomb craters that you might get stuck in, burnt out buildings that are strong enough to "box you in".

We will be starting a series of articles soon on the THQ website about Keith Graybeal from MAAD and his 1/25th scale backyard battlefield he is building, so keep an eye out for that.

I shot four short clips of the Sherman and Pershing maneuvering through my backyard "tank pit" (used to be a little pond ).

.......nothing special, but I think that we need more videos posted on this forum!

NO.

Not at this time. However, I am in the process of clearing my back yard of all the nasty debris accumulated over the years. Then the lawn will be mowed and power raked. Following that the gardens will be added and then-

I will add the battlefield integrated amongst the gardens, replete with bridges and structures. Like the idea of Hull Down pits and even a 'bunker'

This will all be in 1/16th scale.

That sounds cool! [sm=thumbup.gif] A secret battleground in the garden. I can see how it would be nice to integrate some battlefield features into an existing garden with paths as roads and all kinds of plants for cover. It would be especially nice if the garden was tiered and divided into sections by wooden barriers that would have to be crossed with cool little bridges. People probably would not even notice at first.....until the tanks rolled into action.

Great. Now I have to landscape my yard and build a battlefield, too.

My backyard is totally controlled by the wife[&o].
I may have to go to the empty lot down the street to get any good vids or pics.
My yard is just too "domestic"

It is not indoors, but it is ours. Our club founder is the rare Californian with some extra land! This has evolved over the last 3 years. Takes a lot of work between the buildings and battle field repair from the wind and rain.

If you are ever in Southern California, look us up!

Check out the video page if you want to see them in action.

Dan's 1/16 scale backyard battlefield in Alameda, California. He bought a big pile of mini christmas trees for 75%-90% discounts on the day after christmas, and he's been slowly expanding the collection since then. Several other club members construct buildings to add to the town. The hamlet shown has grown to a sizeable town since these photos were taken last year. Dan's backyard also includes a small pond, which he takes advantage of with a bridge and terrain features. The bridge has also since been expanded into a large "highway" that traverses a large portion of the battlefield. Nobody has successfully navigated the expanded bridge, although many fell trying [:@]

Of particular note are the "hull down" positions Dan scattered throughout his battlefield. The "hull down" positions are terrain features that control major paths around the battleground, with wooden structures carefully positioned to shield a "hull down" tank's IR sensor in a specified direction. While not exactly historically accurate, it's better than hiding behind a hill and still getting taken out. The very last photo shows an excellent example of a hull-down tank.

The first photo shows a panorama of the battlefield, the rest are highlights of various individual features. I also have a [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAm-_YUwHWw]video[/link] of a battle there.

heh looking at the buildings in that post, for the one with the wood across the windows, it almost looks like the railroad spikes from HO scale trains would work as the nails for holding the wood on the frame etc. very cool buildings!
