Default 88 Bunker

Saw one of these in a picture..thought it would make a nice addition to the battlefield. Only problem is I don't have an 88 to put in it. I'm going to make a mock 88 with balsa and throw some heavy camo netting on it

Dennis

This looks like it will be a good one, I have been thinking of making some AT guns, pak 45 and 88 would be cool.

Thanks guys...

Material is 1.5 inch house insulation...and plywood base. I'll be adding some joint compound to give it some texture and sand.

Made an 88 today...it is sort of scale...with camo netting you won't notice...barrel is from my tiger I. The rest is aircraft ply, and craft wood, the shield on front is from a plastic DVD case.

yep scratch built...the only thing I didn't build was the barrel...that was the orignal tiger I barrel (my tank has a metal one). The rest I just drew after looking at some pics on the net and the verlinden catalog and just cut them on my scroll saw...no measuring...so it is about 1/16 scale . Looks right in the bunker.

I used 1/8 inch aircraft ply...but I'm sure any ply or even very thick hard cardboard would work.

More sandbags...took me about an hour to make. I have to work on size consistency.

Wooden blocks in the background will be shell crates.

Nice heavy look, so you base coat black and then weather it with a grey?

Bunker looks great ! You've got the foam building technique down pat, the 88 gun needs to be panzer grey or dark yellow with some camo on it, I would recommend the dark yellow to make it more camera and spectator friendly. In the future we can add a IR kit from tank hobby and a 2 ch radio to make this active.

I think I have some panzer grey left....but I think you're right dark yellow would make it stand out...that light grey is primer. Hopefully our local hobby shop will have the yellow...if not I know niagara hobby does.

I just checked out the tank hobby page...that is pretty cool...that would definitely be a scary bunker with IR.

The 88 round is a 1/4 dowel I sanded to a projectile shape.
