Replacing air soft gun on a Bulldog.
Greetings! My friend Tom's out of town, so I stole his Bulldog... yes stole it. He wasn't home, She wasn't home, kid wasn't home, door unlocked, so I took it ^_^
I had ordered some metal sprockets and some airsoft replacements along with a Road Wheel for his Bulldog awhile ago and It was time to do it!
The Dirty:
Tom's Bulldog: Standard non S&S, and unusual for us in North America, it is 40 mhz. I replaced a center road wheel, it was wrecked, fixed one of the front idler wheels, it had come apart and he used really bad glue to fix it, and the rear sprockets were worn out litterally!
This badly worn out:
Anyhow, cracked it open:
Hard to tell but from previous tampering inside, he knocked off the + side to the airsoft. normally I would have just soldered it back, but it was broken anyhow.
MADE sure to note the wiring!! I messed up my tiger and wrecked the gun in it. good thing they come in 2 packs!
Mato's set came with a blue and yellow cable. Also motor is blue. reason?
I then took the turret apart carefully:
More wiring notes:
Note the wire is off the bottom of the motor. it was connected in that blob of solder just below it.
After studying each motor, I grabbed a battery and tried it, I got it right!! Blue wire = Black | Yellow wire = Red
So I replaced the unit, two screws on each side and the barrel and cover comes off. Tom's was full of grit inside so I washed it out.
I then set up the wires for soldering
I used masking tape to hold the gun into the holders so it wouldn't move around on me.
Soldered!
Got the bottom of the turret back on okay
Got the ring on and getting ready to re-solder
All done! too bad the crappy camera didn't focus on the solder points...
Dirty gears!!!
And Ta DAA!!
5000 points to who can tell me what is wrong in this picture:

hint it is not the alignment. i had the airsoft bottle propped up under so that it would take a clear picture.

Great work !!! Someone's going to very pleased !!! Thanks for the photos. There's enough detail there that anyone can follow the wiring and solder points with ease. Have to go along with the previous posts about the track teeth not lined up in the third bogey wheel.

The blue capped motors on the new airsoft guns are what are available from Matotoys as replacement airsoft units. Be aware that if you are replacing your old airsoft units thaqt have the yellow cap motors note that the new guns with the blue cap motors have the motors installed in a reverse position (wire tabs facing out, not in) If not rewired properly the guns will go in reverse and strip the internal gears. I just order 20 older airsoft guns with the yellow cap motors as (even though the new airsoft guns provide a bit more power) they, for some reason, are able to be upgraded to a point of almost tripling their original power. I could not do the same thing to the blue capped motor guns. I had to get the older motors shipped directly from China.

RE: Replacing air soft gun on a Bulldog.
well Tom was amazed. He got back in town unannounced tonight. Immediately called me and asked where his tank was (he ain't stupid). So I took it over and my newly modded pershing and we had fun in the snow. Now a link broke on his tank... fun..
anyone here willing to sell 8~ links for a bulldog? (plastic)
