All,
Well finally my first Tiger 1 modified metal and some corrections will be made! I think that I am about half way done! I took much from what I have seen and, I have put my own ideas on few things!
I cut out that battery compartment and will use it later to mount switches and possibly boards! The white stuff you see is called plastic weld, and it does that very well super strong and you can sand it, and paint on it, that will come in handy later.

At least one New guy has asked if breaking in the motors and gears is necessary? Well if you want about 20 percent more power out of your cheap motors, and you want your metal gears to roll as easy as your plastic ones did! Then Yes, IMO it is necessary, and easy to do, here are a few pics!
Then I go over the metal suspension steps by pictures and a few tips on that like shaving off about 3/8th inch from your roller wheel axels. to adding loctite to all your screw points!

This next section I am still on the hull of the tank checking the stance, and movement of the metal roller wheels. I will be water proofing the hull with silicone, it is a tank it must be able to go through at least 3 inches of water, IMO! I want to make sure that my fire wall between the engine compartment and the crew is not only stable but not going to hamper the engines in any way, at the same time adding strength to the hull as a chassis cross member!

James, I thought I was the only one with those problems
I don't dare sit at my bench with a tank and expect to be there for long, before the "kommondant" calls [:@] Worse is to pull out my oboe or englishorn, clarinets or bagpipes and expect to work on reeds or practice..[
] Oh joy...I'm not alone

Merry X-mas to all.

Every time she complains about the time you are spending on tanks, pull out the bagpipes!!!!. It won't be long until she starts encouraging you to work on the tank!!!
My bride has zero interest in tanks, but she is a saint when it comes to my time. A couple of items off the honey do list is all that is required for me to earn hours in the workshop.
Hey Blitz that is quite the Tiger you are working on. I got about 3 projects on the "to do" list and then I think I'll be getting a second tiger to work on.

feel you're trying to say something about bagpipes[>:] I don't play the squeely Highland pipes...I got rid of those things and only play Eastern European pipes. They're much better sounding much more interesting to see. [8D]It's working on oboe reeds that drives her crazy....and me too when I can't get one playing the way I want. [:'(]
My wife also has no interest in my tanks....she is just happy that I sold my 1;1 scale so that we now have grass in the back yard and alongside the house and don't have a truck and trailer sitting there. [8D]But even at 1;16 I'm running short on space. Guess I'll have to start putting shelves across the side windows. [:-]
Getting an SU-76i to build and probably a Stu (kit or HL) and probably down the line maybe a KT. Then when the M-46 conversion is available, THAT will be my biggy.
May have to move out into the garage.[&o]

Thanks Guys and a very Merry Christmas!
Hey YHR I have been bouncing back and forth between this and the amplifier project, I finally recieved an LDO 5 volt regulator and it worked well for the cheap little amp. but it basically is not much amplification it just allows you to add differant sound at a decent level, if you know what I mean, but it did run off of the tanks battery! But 5 volts is not enough for the other amplifier to even initiate it, I am going to continue to look for the right balance! But back to the Tiger 1, I have to finish this before The DAK battle!

Great Tiger info... keep it coming
You could use more light, or a mini tripod. More light makes for a shorter exposure time and camera shake doesn't matter as much. If you can't add light, a tripod will keep the camera steady. Sometimes it help to use the shutter delay (like you are taking a self portrait). That way you are not even touching the camera when shutter goes off, and less chance of the button push shaking the camera.

Its time to post another update!
I have wired up the two batteries, using W.S. Dean connectors! I am installing a single charge port for the two batteries! I have a mini switchboard designed to select either battery for charge or either battery for use as the tanks power! I am using a 3-pole switch to initiate the charge port and select one battery at a time to be charged! I am also using the Heng Long on/off switch as overall power kill, and a separate 3 pole switch that will select which battery will be initiated to power the tank, the middle pole on this switch is also an off switch! This is kind of over kill, but at the same time if I get in a hurry at a battle, I don’t want to plug the charge port in by mistake when the power is still on going to the tanks, ESC board!
I have a few pictures of the head light covers that I have crafted myself along with the hatch, it looks rough now but after it gets painted its not too bad, that comes later! The tank is coming together, I am still deciding on what ESC board is going to run this tank??

EL MOD UPdate! I got it working but combined with the Heng Long boards, I still have no idea how it interfaces with the Specktrum radio and receiver and i tried everything! After reading through the manuals again I believe that I will need the Prop 6 setup, I am slowly getting their lingo down and understanding what does what! What I did was use EL Mods Think Tank Booster K/M setup and at 11:45 pm it rolled back and forth on the carpet, finally LOL

I am charging the batteries fully, and well see how well this beast will run, it sure is Heavy!

The el-mod gear is great, but the instructions are clear on the simple things and obscure on the less-obvious bits. Pretty much unbreakable though!

Yes, Wacky the product is well Engineered, and the neat thing is its potential to go far beyond Tamiya electronics as far as realism in the tank! If I sound critical at times, it is only becuase I want to see this product succeed! Other then being a little pricey, (But you GET what you pay for, and a hole lot more) we just need to simplifiy it, and that can be done!

I'm still waiting on my El-Mod complete upgrade to arrive(hopefully this week)
Then the whole business gets installed in my Elephant(H) conversion
.
My El-Mod system was installed in my HL Jagdpanther conversion, but because the Jagdpanther was so heavy(10lbs), it wouldn't turn well or climb(which is why the upgrade).
And my setup is the prop version for use without the HL boards.
I thought the sound from the El-Mod was just fantastic
.
Cool job on the Tiger1 Blitz, can't wait to see it.

Wacky,
No, the problem was that the El-Mod ESCs couldn't put out enough current to push such a heavy tank, I contacted El-mod and they said that they were working on the the problem.
The Afterburner addition is the result of their work, with this, the power output on the El-Mod ESCs went from 3amps to 10amps more than enough to drive heavy tank models.
And this bears out my research as I installed a sabretooth 2x10Rc in the Jagdpanther and have no issues at all.
So since the Elephant(H) weighs the same it should work very well indeed, and still retain the quad drive setup(4ea HL gear drives) that I built into it.

Happy New Year Blitz,
I have not heard anything about the next S.C.A.T. battle day as yet.
Sorry about the DAK Battle day couldn't get the time off from work(sigh)[
]
Looks like it was loads of fun.
Let me know what issues you encounter with your Afterbuner install.
Hope my El-Mod stuff arrives soon!

Here are a few more photos for the Techs out there, and I have a shot or two of the hatch and lights painted! I think that they look better that way! The stock look of the HL Tiger 1 lights bugged me, but now I like them! Is it because I changed them and they seem more proportional to me or what do you guys/ gals think? I take can take some honest criticism!
