RE: King Tiger Build (Finally ready to start)
First three pictures are the parts, the layout, and completion of an overflow line. The next four pictures are just more lift hooks on the front and back of the hull. The last three are and you need to look close to see them are handles or tie downs, very small and there are 32 more to make and install.

Built the three Pariscopes and finished fitting one, the first three pictures are bending one Pariscope and the fourth pic is it fitted into place. The last picture is two very small details that will hold the smaller of the two cables (ends) to the side of the hull, the larger of the two is adjustable by loosening the .6mm nut at the bottom and sliding it to keep the cable tight.

gigantohawk, I was able to purchase these brass PE (Photo Etched) parts from ETO, it would be very hard to make it from scratch, and it's hard enough to work with like it is, I have not been able to work on the KT for a couple of days because my old laptop died and I was forced to buy a new one, and a desktop for my business. I have been working on getting them both configured. I will show you a pic of the PE sheets when I can load pics again, maybe by this weekend. I needed a break from it anyway.

RE: King Tiger Build (Finally ready to start)
The computer work is finished, now I can get back to the more important things , like building this King Tiger. First picture is just to show anyone thinking about opening the rear engine hatch, there's not much room to work with but I'm thinking it's a good place to install the charger plug at least, you would need to turn the turret 90 degrees to open it. The next three pictures are of building the rear Convoy Light. This was a hard little light to build but it's very cool looking.

RE: King Tiger Build (Finally ready to start)
Today I decided to make it easier to plug in the charger without opening the tank, I decided to put the charge plug in the rear engine hatch and the run/charge switch and a switch to turn on and off the lights under the Radio/Mg Hatch. The first picture is for gigantohawk, I said I would take picture of the PE for you (Brass Photo Etched Parts) sorry it took so long The next picture shows the charge/run switch and the light switch and the third pic is how I mounted the charge plug at the rear engine hatch. the forth and fifth pic are how it looks with the hull in place.

Worked on the fire extinguisher today, man this was difficult, but you can unlatch it and remove it, the handles on the extinguisher can swivel up and down. next is to make the tool latches, but this will be a couple of days from now.

Are the photo etch instructions easy to understand? Where is the best place to buy the KT extras from? My next Tamiya will be the KT but I don't think I will take it to your extent. What kind of money (total) did you spend on all the extras?
I must say, I love your work and I have saved this thread for the future!

RE: King Tiger Build (Finally ready to start)
Sorry to say that I've been very busy getting ready for family to come in from Minnesota and will be away from this for a bit, but in the mean time I did place another order for more upgrades from ETO, so buy the time they get here I WILL be ready to get back to work on it. I don't have the pics ready but when I have had a little time I started to make the tools over instead of using the stock plastic ones, these will be metal and wood. three will be made from scratch and three will be bought from ETO.
Thanks for reading my build and slotcarrod, the PE instructions are from Germany, 37 pages long and are picture diagrams only, so I would say they are very needed but hard to understand, you must be ready to have a lot of patients to even try this, the cost of what I have spent on this is not to be published for my own safety (wife) She has an idea but I would rather it only be an idea, I'm getting ready to buy the Jagdpanther next and it will cost about the same if not more. And then there is that Panzer IV coming soon, may not cost as much but I will upgrade it to the max.

Thanks YHR
Man my build fell back to page 4, so I thought I better add something before it got lost I've been a bit busy with work and the house so I was not finding any time to work on the KT, I sat down for a couple hours and finished the on/off switch, the charge plug and the switch for the lights, all this is now working and I did a test to make sure the Run/Charge switch does what it's supposed to do, The front light and rear convoy light is working, I started to make some of the tools, the pic shows the plastic stock next to the new brass ones I made.

RE: King Tiger Build (Finally ready to start)
Time to get back to the King Tiger, six pics here, first is just a picture of the rear engine hatch, and what it looks like without the latch that I Installed to hold the hatch open, by adding this it looks like it will make this KT a late version. the second pic are the parts for the latch (ETO), the third is the latch in place and the engine hatch closed, the fourth is the same but with the hatch open and the new latch hooked. The fifth picture are the new ax and hammer, metal and real wood next to the stock plastic tools and the last are scratch made barrel cleaning rods ends are threaded metal.

Absolutely magnificient workmanship... the detail in incredible. Great job hdbeast! I would almost not want to paint it when completed because so much of your effort will blend in with the stock design. Do you have an estimate of the time involved to this point? The pics are great but make it look so easy! Keep them coming...
Gotta go now - I'm gonna rob a Brinks truck so I can start one too!

It does look cool with all the brass and your right when it's painted most will be hard to see, but I will know. No estimate on the time, but I build the wooden ships so this is much less work, the ship I'm working on right now is about 1 1/2 to 2 years with over 2700 parts in wood and metal.

HDBeast,
Aside from Daryl Turner, and ETO, where did you get most of your aftermarket parts? Also, where did you find the hardware?
Thanks.

Thanks 971wright
More work on the KT, Started to put together the tool clamps to mount the tools to the hull, all the clamps open and close so the tools can be removed, there's seven and it took me all day to do just two[X(]. The first picture is the antenna made from brass rod, sanded on a drill and is tapered from 1.5mm at the base to 0.2mm at the top. The second pic is some of PE parts for the tool clamps, third is the same parts just bent, forth is all the PE parts for both tools not yet bent to shape.
The fifth pic is of the tools and clamps finished and shows how one clamp is in the open position and one in the closed position, also the two drill bits needed to make this work, one 0.3mm and the other 0.4mm[sm=spinnyeyes.gif], the last two pic are the Ax and Hammer Installed on the hull.

Nice work Gary. [sm=thumbs_up.gif] Man, with all of those small parts I would feel like I was working with a smaller scale kit!
