TAMIYA PanzerKampfwagen Mk.IV Ausf.J READY TO BATTLE!
NEW AT TEXAS ARMOR....
New TAMIYA 1/16 full function PanzerKampfwagen Mk.IV Ausf.J ready for battle
This model Base color of panzer ochre yellow with medium bands of dk. green and thin bands of red/brown found on some examples of Mk IV's in the last months of the war with zimmerit applied on upper hull, fenders and turret skirts as standard practice.
Side skirts are of the style found during the same time frame made from screen or mesh otherwise known as "bazooka skirts", but more because shortages in steel to produce the "solid" skirts.
This example was modeled in such a fashion to represent the last breed of the workhorse of the once mighty Panzer force.
Model assembled and detailed by "MOONSHADOW" (thanks a lot...)
THIS PZMkIV will be deployed to the TEXAS ARMOR BATTLE on SEPT 19-21st, 2008.

ENJOY!

Looks great Tomas!
How reliable is the track system so far? The Bandi conversions threw tracks a little too easy.

Panther F,
Yes sir! It is mine..... in my motorpool...
BTW... THE SOUND IS INCREDIBLE... get goosebumps when I turn it on!!!
the interior is tighter than a Pershing!!!
MOONSHADOW did the assembly, zimmerit, details, painting...
He is an artist....
Cannot wait to battle with it.... should be able to hide out and ambush easier than with my KT, or PANTHER...
-THANKS,
TOMAS

I've heard that about MOONSHADOW before and I wouldn't mind him building one for me! I was going to say this was finished very fast considering all the work! [sm=thumbs_up.gif] This deserves a video someday soon for sure!
Good luck with it on the battlefield man!

Outstanding finish, how does it run, tracks, idlers etc?
Just might open the box and get started on mine, but only after I hear your feedback.
Does goose stepping require practice or is it a Texas thing?
John

John, I think you might be confused. It's Texas " two" stepping and It does require practice.

RE: TAMIYA PanzerKampfwagen Mk.IV Ausf.J READY TO BATTLE!
Thanks for the complements guys, Yes, it was a bit of a rush job getting it done, but I wanted it to make it's debut next week-end and that is what spurred me on to get it done so quickly.
Over-all the build was box stock, the bogeys took a little used to in putting together, a bit similer to the Sherman, but a different animal alltogether. I am not to crazy about how Tamiya has the front end held down, being a small screw inside of the transmission hatch cover hinge, it being a bit too short, but a resourcfull modeler could change that out without any problems. Beyond that, not a bad kit EXCEPT that it is TIGHT inside! Less room than the Pershing! Where does one put all of those wires?
For the IR bulb,...no real place to put it, of course Tamiya tells you to use that holder and place it on the barrel, (yea,..right..) so what I did was cut off the vision port on the gunners side flush, cleaned up the hole and just used the mounting box that comes with the battle set and glued the port in the "open" position.
The kit does not come with side hull skirts, so I had to scratch the brackets.
If one wanted to, with a little research, one can back-engineer this kit to an H or even G model with little trouble.
Over-all I rate this kit a 7 out of 10.
Panther F, I would not mind building one for you, e-mail me for details, but to let you know, I have done IPMS 1/35 scale , and several of my models are in military museums around the US. I do not give any dead-line dates as my work schedual is weird and depending on what amount of detail I do , it could take some time. I did have fun on Nemises's FlatFoot Floogie.

You've got a great looking PZ4. Just started mine and having fun on it this weekend.
Did you mount a TBU? And do you have anymore build tips after living with it for awhile?

Hi Tomas,
Cool, I am doing a stock build too, though running the emiter inside the barrel, thus deleting the flash unit.
Does Moonshadow do paint work (his skills are fantastic)? Let me know cost off line if he does and I will consider shipping the model to him when assembled for final paint.
Regards, John

John,
Yep... Moonshadow does paint work... I just worry about something getting broken in transit back to you!
Moonshadow is truly amazing with an airbrush!

Great build!
If you don't mind me asking sir, where did you get the specs (mounting arms & dimensions) for the schurzen? I'm thinking of attaching them to mine too. Thanks for the help!
