Liking it lots, i have two small scale tanks, a Tiger (infra red) and an M1 Abrams (Radio controlled). I prefere the Tiger for visual and speed and ability, but the IR is crappy and lacks refined control, the Abrams has great control but lacks the visual refinaties and also lacks the speed and traction of the Tiger. But both quite fun none-the-less!
What was your Jagdpanther converted from, Airfix?

It's the Academy 1/25 Jagdpanther, code ACD1330. Both the 1330 and 1329, the Panther, can be easily converted to RC because they're already motorised, although the simle gearbox that comes with the kit has to be replaced by a double gearbox.
I know Academy had an ACD 1338 or something like that which came with an already installed double gearbox to be controlled by wires, obviously not hard to convert to RC.
I used the Tamiya 70168 double gearbox, which must be adapted to fit the hull and to engage the sprockets gears
The two FA130 Mabuchi motors that come with the Tamiya gearbox will simply die in one hour running at 6V, and as they have metal brushes it's hard to use them with RC, even soldering the three capacitors.
At first I replaced them with two RX41 Technitoys, from scalextric, as seen in the pics, which fit in the gearbox, but some time later I found two rear mirror motors with carbon brushes and with the same size of the FA130; but these were rated for 12V with low RPM (you need something near 12000 at 6V, with the gearbox assembled to 115:1 ratio, it has 4 possible ratios) and I stripped the case from them and repolace those of the FA130.
Not fast but I just want it to move.
Regards
Robert

The ones I find have the stupid poly tracks and not the linked tracks that you have!
I thought the Taimya Panther tracks woud fit but the sprocket is designed slightly different than the Academy sprocket which results in a tank that will either move or
spin it's sprocket inside the tracks!!!!!!
If I can only find the correct sprocket and tracks for my 3 tanks!!!!

PLEASE REMEMBER THE 1329 AND 1330 COME WITH INDIV. PLASTIC TRACKS AND MOTORISED WITH 1 MOTOR, THAT GEARBOX GOES DIRECTLY TO THE JUNK, MUST BE REPLACED WITH A DOUBLE GEARBOX.
ACADEMY HAS TWO OTHER KITS THAT COME WITH A DOUBLE (TWO MOTORS) GEARBOX, I GUESS THE 1338 (PANTHER) AND 1339 (JAGDPANTHER), BUT WITH F L E X V I N Y L T R A C K S .

The Academy kit provides plastic tow cables, but I didn't like them, so I used copper wires threaded to form a rope, and applied some rust to it.
Thanks

Hi Robert,
I bought two kits from Academy 1339 and 1342, both Jagdpanther. The 1339 has wide roadwheels, the 1342 has small roadwheels. The 1342 has Vinyl tracks.
The sprockets of both are not the same, 1339 has a wider teething for the linked tracks. See the pictures...
Regards,
Gunnar

Thanks for your pic. I got this kit and also the Panther 1/25. The track & movable suspension is nice.
I always collect the motorized kit planning to convert them to RC in some day, when?, really no idea.
